Review: LEGO Star Wars 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe

Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe, a box of 924 pieces currently on pre-order at the public price of €99.99 on the official store and which will be available from August 1, 2022. For those who have not followed: this set is a derivative product of the Obi mini-series -Wan Kenobi whose broadcast ended a few days ago on Disney +.

So it's all about assembling the ship used by the Empire's inquisitors, and the first episode of the series opens with the arrival of these pissed off Jedi hunters on Tatooine. I'm not going to give you an endless verse on the LEGO version of the ship, it's a children's toy that obviously prioritizes playability over finish. The whole thing is pretty well designed, the aesthetic of the reference ship is there and the angles are well managed with some well-thought-out techniques that should satisfy older fans always anxious to discover some ingenious sub-assemblies.

The interior space is easily accessible and there is space to stage the three inquisitors. A handful of stickers gives consistency to the somewhat empty cockpit with only three seats and the whole is closed by a nicely pad-printed red car windscreen. LEGO adds two Spring-Shooters under the wings, they are well integrated but, as usual, they can be easily removed if the product is destined to end its career on your shelves as a simple exhibition model.

This 37 cm long by 24 cm wide and 14 cm high ship is obviously not on the scale of the minifigs and it plays as often on a double scale with an interior suitable for play sessions with minifigs and a outer scale which makes it a compact but very correct model. LEGO adds landing gear under the ship, so it doesn't sit directly on the ground and that's nice.

There are far too many studs visible on the surface for my taste, but it is ultimately beneficial: many smooth black parts are more or less scratched right out of the box and the product would not have really benefited from a coat of Tiles additional. In short, for a hundred euros, it's quite correct and the most demanding can possibly tinker with a support to give a little height to the ship.

For adults who will be tempted to add this box to their collection, the real stars of the set are undoubtedly the minifigs. LEGO does not take us as a traitor and provides us with the trio of inquisitors in the same set. We will remember the distribution of the six Knights of Ren in several boxes in the range, it would have been disappointing to be entitled to the same marketing string here. The Grand Inquisitor, the Fifth Brother and the Third Sister aka Reva are therefore provided in a single box and Obi-Wan completes the cast, it's always taken.

This is not the first appearance of the Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother at LEGO, they were already available in products based on the Star Wars Rebels animated series: the first was delivered in 2015 in the set 75082 TIE Advance Prototype and the second in the set 75157 Captain Rex's AT-TE marketed in 2016.

The versions delivered in this box are logically based on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series and the graphic designer has done his homework. The pad prints are frankly faithful to the outfits seen on the screen and the trio of Jedi hunters is in my opinion very successful. Two of these minifigs are equipped with the same pair of legs and Reva is only entitled to neutral legs, it smells a bit of savings but we'll get by.

We could also regret that the Grand Inquisitor is not equipped with a cape with dark red interior to really stick to his outfit in the series but here too we will have to be content with what LEGO wants to offer us. Reva's hair is not a new element, it was already used for the Orcs of The Hobbit range in 2014 and it was also used for the Valkyrie or Taserface figurines.

Another detail that could have been better interpreted: the face of the Fifth Brother is blue on the LEGO version, it is however almost as pale as that of the Grand Inquisitor on the screen. Too bad also for the handle of Reva's saber which is here identical to those worn by the Grand Inquisitor and the Fifth Brother. However, these few approximations are not enough to spoil the pleasure of obtaining this trio in one and the same box.

The Obi-Wan minifig is generally faithful to the version of the character seen on screen. I have a little trouble with the orange mullet cut but the rest is acceptable. The piece of fabric that slips over the figurine's shoulders creates an illusion and it does us a favor: it hides the difference in color between the character's head and the area of the neck, which should have been flesh-colored. Neutral legs for Obi-Wan, it costs a little less in LEGO.

In short, this box seems to me to be a nice derivative product of the series, the ship is nicely executed, LEGO does not require us to buy several sets to bring together the trio of inquisitors and this set therefore deserves your full attention in my opinion . We will inevitably end up finding it for much less than what LEGO is currently asking for, it will just take a little patience.

The two new additions to the LEGO Speed Champions range scheduled for August 1, 2022 are now online on the official store and those who still doubted it are now set: the retail price of these two boxes is set at €24.99.

We can always justify this increase in the public price of these small sets in the range which feature a vehicle and a figurine by invoking the two licenses used here with the James Bond franchise on one side and the Fast & Furious franchise on the other.

LEGO had announced this increase in part of the products in its catalog a few weeks ago and we knew that the references of the LEGO Speed Champions range were concerned with a passage from 19.99 € to 24.99 € per unit, an increase of 25%. It is therefore probably not the fault of Daniel Craig and Vin Diesel if these boxes are displayed at a price that is becoming a little excessive for what they have to offer.

LEGO continues to expand its range of pets in BrickHeadz format with two new references, now online on the official store, which will join from August 1st the ten sets on the same theme already marketed: the set 40545 Koi Fish (203 pieces - 14.99 €) with its two carps and the set 40546 Poodle (304 pieces - €14.99) with his two poodles.

LEGO will not be content to decline its concept of "postcard" sticker around the cities of New York and Beijing with the sets 40519 New York Postcard (14.99 €) and 40654 Beijing Post Card (14.99 €) available since July 1, two new references will follow from August with on one side Paris in the set 40568 Paris Postcard (213 pieces - 14.99 €) which will allow you to assemble the Arc de Triomphe, the Pont-Neuf and the Eiffel Tower and the other London in the set 40569 London Postcard (14.99 €) which brings together Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus, the London Eye and a red bus.
