LEGO Masters: German version of the program to stop playing

If you're interested in the news surrounding the LEGO Masters show, you should know that the German version of the competition, which has been airing since 2018, has been canceled after disappointing ratings and a move from RTL to VOX. The last season aired last February and a spokesperson for the VOX channel confirmed that no new season was planned at this time, citing mainly an internal strategic choice within the channel.

This announcement of the show's cancellation in a European country is for the moment an isolated case which probably does not reflect the overall strategy around the concept, we know that the French version of the program will have at least a fifth season whose broadcast date on M6 has not yet been communicated. We only know that the filming of this new season is underway or has recently taken place and we discovered a few weeks ago the name of the new partner of LCP Georg Schmitt in the Brickmasters jury: it is the Paper Artist Fuchsia of Hell.

The concept is also regularly used with varying degrees of success in many countries, including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands (with Belgium), Hungary, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic and Poland.

The discontinuation of the German version, considered by many fans of the show as one of the best along with the Australian and American versions, whether temporary before a switch to a new channel or definitive, does not allow for the moment to draw real conclusions on the possible loss of momentum of the program, it will be necessary to see if other major countries also give up producing new seasons of their respective regional versions.

In France, audiences had declined over the years since the first season aired in 2020, and the program did not have a new season in 2024 after its fourth season aired at the end of 2023. The fifth season planned for this year will therefore have to benefit from a suitable broadcast slot and convince a wide audience to be able to hope for a possible renewal of the format in our country.
