Interactivity and LEGO products: the manufacturer is testing a new “smart” brick

Today we are discovering something new from the LEGO CITY range, the set 60691 Jungle Explorer Base Camp, a box of 1019 pieces which would go almost unnoticed if it were not accompanied by a new concept in this LEGO range: the set will be delivered with a new intelligent brick which always promises more interactivity and therefore playability with the product concerned.

We currently know little about this new brick except that it reacts to actions, the way it is handled and even its integration into different sections of the product. It will detect colors, it will be able to scan Tiles provided and it will emit various and varied sounds. The promise is tempting, it now remains to be seen whether the product will live up to the announced ambitions. The set 60691 Jungle Explorer Base Camp will allow you to obtain the brick in question, 8 Tiles interactive, a wireless charger as well as 3 minifigs which will react differently depending on the situation.

We know that LEGO has planned a beta test phase limited for the moment to the United Kingdom, we will have to wait a little longer to find out when and for how much it will be possible to obtain the announced product and its intelligent brick. This new addition to the LEGO CITY range should be accompanied by two other boxes which will also take advantage of this interactive brick, the references 60692 The Lost Crododile Temple (294 pieces) and 60693 Survivor Island Seaplane (287 pieces) (visuals below).
