It is not yet very high resolution but fans of the LEGO Architecture range will be content with it until better: Here are some official visuals of the LEGO Architecture set 21035 Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
This box of 744 pieces which reproduces the famous New York museum is already offered for sale at Amazon by a profiteer marketplace seller.
Be patient, this box arrives next April at LEGO and its retail price will be much lower than that charged by the seller in question.
Will the three sets of the LEGO Architecture range based on French monuments soon be joined by a fourth reference containing the Arc de Triomphe?
This is what the set sheet suggests 21036 uploaded by a dutch sign. For around forty euros, it would therefore be possible to obtain in 2017 a LEGO version of this other emblematic monument of the French capital.
France has so far been entitled to three sets in the Architecture range: 21014 Villa Savoye (2012), 21019 Eiffel Tower (2014) et 21024 The Louvre (2015)
It's in the pages of the italian version from the LEGO catalog for the first half of 2017, also available in French version at this address but without the Architecture page, only set 21035 Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum made its first public appearance. It will be marketed from April 2017.
LEGO has already marketed in 2009 a reproduction of this building in its Architecture range with the set 21004 Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. This set, initially marketed at the public price of € 41.99, is now sold for double or even triple the price by third-party sellers on different marketplaces.
It's up to everyone to compare the two interpretations of the building and choose the one that best suits their tastes and budget. The yellow stuff in the new set is a priori micro versions of New York taxis traveling on Fifth Avenue. Or chicks. More like taxis.
LEGO has updated its official store with a slew of new products for 2017 including the highly anticipated new sets of the ranges Ninjago, DC Comics, Marvel et Brand. No traces for the moment of the set 21308 Adventure Time in the range Lego ideas, but this box is not one of my priorities, it's not a big deal ...
If you can't wait for these sets to end up at a lower price than the LEGO retail price, then your wait is coming to an end. No special promotional offer on the LEGO Shop at this time except the one allowing to obtain the polybag 5004408 with a rebel pilot, but you must order from Star Wars to benefit ...
For others, it is urgent to be patient and to compare prices. Amazon has listed all of these boxes and prices will drop as usual very quickly as soon as they are available in stock. In the meantime, it is the sellers of the marketplace who are filling their pockets with somewhat mind-blowing prices.
Just to take a break from editing sets from The LEGO Batman Movie range, I tackled today one of the references of the LEGO Architecture range marketed since early 2016: the 21028 New York "Skyline" set.
Well took me, I had a good time. The change of scale and the different use of the parts that we usually assemble in the ranges System offer a short but very interesting experience. Except that it is even easier to pass in bad faith in mode "LEGO forgot a part in my set!"with this assortment of very small stackable bricks, before finally getting our hands on the 1x1 tile we are missing ...
Small regret with this New York landscape, the nanofig used to embody the Statue of Liberty would in my opinion have deserved a special mold for a slightly more faithful representation of the monument. Seen from a distance, it works. Up close, it is still less convincing.
Another detail that jumps out at this scale: the few injection marks visible on some parts spoil the general appearance a little when you bend down to admire the result a little more closely.
As for the assembly process, we quickly move on from very simple techniques where we stack flat on the flat for the Chrysler Building and Flatiron Building, to some more complex sequences which allow to obtain a rendering in SNOT very successfulEmpire State Building and One World Trade Center. Despite the apparent simplicity of the whole, it is therefore necessary to be meticulous and patient.
Note that LEGO provides a second nanofig among the few additional parts, so you don't end up without Lady Liberty if you lose the first one.
On the price side, you will have to pay 49.99 € in the LEGO Shop or in a LEGO Store to offer you this box. At the price of the kilo of plastic, it is poorly served. But with 598 small parts, a tile pad printed with the name of the city, a beautiful box and a luxurious instruction manual with some information (in English) on the designer of the set and the buildings reproduced, this set is a nice gift for a lover of discreet decorations, a fan fan of the American dream or a traveling friend back from New York ... And it's always better than a colorful tie or a box of bad chocolate.
Since the launch of the first sets of this series of Skylines (21026 Venice, 21027 Berlin / Germany et 21028 New York City) , LEGO has announced three new references based on the cities of London, Chicago and Sydney to discover at this address.
Note: As usual, I put the box in play and add an exclusive keyring on the same theme brought from the LEGO Store in Rockefeller Center. You have until December 13, 2016 at 23:59 p.m. to manifest yourself in the comments. The winner's name / nickname will be posted here within 24/48 hours of the contest closing date.
Update (very late): The draw has taken place and the winner's nickname is displayed below.
