End of the suspense: The teasing organized in recent days is related to the announcement of the new concept Toys-To-Life LEGO Dimensions.
Above, a visual of the Starter Pack for Nintendo Wii U systems (Reference 71174) uploaded by Toys R Us.
The game will also be available on Xbox 360 (71173), Xbox One (71172), Playstation 3 (71170) and PS4 (71171) at a retail price of € 99.99. Packs of figures and vehicles divided into three categories will be offered separately (see the visuals below): Level Pack (€ 29.99), Team Pack (€ 24.99) and Fun Pack (€ 14.99). Availability announced for the end of September 2015 and possible pre-order at amazon (see Pricevortex).
As one might suspect, we find the usual attributes of this type of game: A "portal" base which will communicate with the game console as well as figurines which will materialize in the game probably via an integrated RFID chip.
Below is the product description followed by visuals of all the packs that will be available, the official press release and the concept presentation video:
When a mysterious and powerful vortex suddenly appears in various LEGO® worlds, different characters from DC Comics ™, Lord of the Rings ™ and the LEGO® Movie are swept away.
To save their friends, Batman ™, Gandalf ™ and Wyldstyle ™ bravely jump into the vortex to rescue their friends and fight to save all of LEGO humanity.Let your creativity be your guide as you build the LEGO Gateway to adventure, journeying through unexpected worlds and teaming-up with unlikely allies on the quest to defeat the evil Lord Vortech. The LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack is all you need to begin - build your base and begin on a fantastic quest. Included in the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack: |
LEGO Dimensions, developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3 and Wii ™ U consoles. For the very first time in LEGO video games, characters from iconic franchises join forces and fight together in worlds different from their own.
In addition to the game, the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack will include the LEGO Toy Pad, which will allow players to transfer their LEGO characters and items into the game, bricks to build the Portal, three LEGO minifigures, including LEGO Batman from DC Comics , LEGO Gandalf from Lord of the Rings and Cool-Tag from LEGO The Great Adventure, plus the LEGO Batmobile! “When kids play with LEGO bricks, they build beyond limits, they mix up their favorite characters and worlds, and we invite players to extend that experience into a video game,” said Jon Burton, Founder and Director of Creation at TT Games. “Today, for the first time in a video game, LEGO fans can play in the virtual world and the real world - everything can be combined without limits. Imagine LEGO Gollum from Lord of the Rings driving the LEGO Delorean in Ninjago Town - the creation is endless. " "Building on the renowned TT Games video games, LEGO Dimensions is expanding our LEGO video game franchise with a new interactive and immersive entertainment experience that will redefine the video game category," said Jeff Junge, Vice -Senior President, LEGO Franchise and TT Games, at Warner Bros. Entertainment. “LEGO Dimensions brings fans innovative and fun gameplay with an incredible mix of iconic franchises both in the real and virtual world. " “LEGO Dimensions is unlike anything we've done before. We're expanding the LEGO play experience even further into the video game world with all the characters, humor and action of LEGO video games now combined with the fun of minifigures and LEGO building, ”said Niels Jørgensen , Vice-President, Video Games for the LEGO Group. “We are excited to expand our partnership with TT Games to explore the possibilities of merging physical and virtual LEGO play in meaningful ways for children. " In addition to the three minifigures available to start the experience, LEGO Dimensions will allow players to customize their experience with Expansion Packs. The Adventure, Team and Hero Packs will offer players new buildable characters, vehicles, tools and gadgets, as well as awesome in-game content with new levels and powers. All Expansion Packs will be based on must-have licenses to provide players with the ability to use any minifigure with any vehicle or gadget in any game world… without any limits! Here is a first idea of the Packs available in 2015: More Adventure, Team and Hero Packs available at launch will be announced in the coming months. Other Expansion Packs will be released on a regular basis after the launch of the game until 2016. LEGO Dimensions is not only a game that makes the connection between the virtual and real worlds of LEGO, but provides a play system that is bound to perpetuate over time. The LEGO® Toy Pad, Portal, and video game contained in the Starter Pack provide continued compatibility with future Expansion Packs for years to come. Anything you buy today to expand your collection will continue to work tomorrow with the Starter Pack. No compatibility table is necessary. |
