Today we are taking a very quick look at the contents of the LEGO Editions 43024 Ayrton Senna Helmet set , a box of 931 pieces available from September 1st at a public price of €89,99 on the official online store and for a little less elsewhere.

This is already the fifth helmet in this range of licensed products launched in May 2026 and as with the other sets, LEGO provides a minifigure of the pilot in question.

This is the first time I've held one of these helmets in my hands and I was curious to see what "experience" this product would offer me and how I would approach the aesthetic result.

Assembling the product is a real chore, and even though the techniques used are clearly geared towards the final result, it feels more like a frustrating challenge than a fun, relaxing activity. One can marvel at the sheer number of complex and sometimes surprising sub-assemblies, but in my opinion, the final product doesn't really live up to the complexity of the assembly process.

The model shown here is inspired by the helmet worn by Ayrton Senna in 1988, the year of his first Formula 1 World Championship title. Its shape is therefore somewhat different from the more recent helmets offered elsewhere in this range. While the helmet looks reasonably accurate from the front and three-quarter views, the back is a different story, with two unsightly bulges and several rather imprecise adjustments.

This helmet is obviously designed to be displayed from the front or at most from the side, but I really get the impression that the back has been left neglected or that the designer never found the right solution for this section of the construction.

Otherwise, I find the overall finish very poor, even for a LEGO product, with sections that need to be properly repositioned after the slightest movement and stickers that don't do justice to a product costing €90. On the plus side, the stickers are provided in duplicate, so you can replace them when they start to peel off the helmet visor.

LEGO deliberately omits the main sponsor of the McLaren-Honda team: the tobacco company Marlboro (Philip Morris). Whatever the legal or moral argument used to justify the absence of the logo, the car's authenticity suffers with this large white space that ultimately represents very little.

As for the pad-printed elements, there are numerous misalignments of the prints, and we know this range of headphones often suffers from this problem. The effect is most visible on the back of the headphones, with both horizontal and vertical misalignments on the colored bands that run around the perimeter.

The subject matter is complex, and in my opinion, LEGO's handling of it is only moderately successful, though the model will still look convincing from a distance. Up close, it's too messy for me, with too many empty spaces and a very rough finish.

The included figure somewhat redeems the set with its attractive printing and double-sided head, but it alone doesn't justify spending €90 on this box. The effect of the open jumpsuit falls a bit flat, as the design doesn't extend beyond the figure's hips at the front and the lower torso at the back. It's a shame the Nacional sponsor logo isn't on the cap; the logo is only vaguely represented by the white band.

I know that Formula 1 fans will be perfectly happy with this model, which they'll display alongside their other helmets; it's a decorative piece, and Ayrton Senna is an iconic champion of the sport. For me, however, this product has definitively convinced me that it's not for me. I like LEGO products too much to find it appealing, and I don't like Formula 1 enough to consider it essential.

LEGO has finally unveiled two new additions to its LEGO Editions range, expected in stores from May 1st, 2026, which almost everyone has already seen through the usual channels: two Formula 1 driver helmets accompanied by their minifigures. One features Charles Leclerc (8 F1 wins since 2018, 0 titles) and the other Lewis Hamilton (105 F1 wins since 2007, 7 titles). One might wonder what Charles Leclerc is doing here, likely imposed by Ferrari, instead of, for example, Lando Norris (11 F1 wins since 2019, 1 title), who drives for the McLaren Mastercard F1 Team.

Even though LEGO claims that these helmets "feature printed graphic details", everything visible on the visor is made of stickers; the rest is pad-printed.

Today we're taking a quick look at the contents of the LEGO CITY 60474 F1 Grid with VCARB & Sauber Race Cars set , a 313-piece box available from the official online store since March 1, 2025, at a suggested retail price of €29,99. As you already know, LEGO has partnered with Formula 1, and the manufacturer is therefore releasing a wide variety of single-seater sets. Alongside Technic, ICONS, Speed ​​Champions, and collectible micro-models, there are several sets based on the flagship 2025 theme in the CITY range.

LEGO's proposition is logically adapted to the young audience targeted by this range and the two single-seaters delivered in this box are therefore ultra-simplified versions which prioritize playability over finish.

Both vehicles are perfectly identical in design, only the colors differ, and they are easy to handle without breaking anything. The patterned parts are pad-printed; no stickers are included in this box.

The simplification is pushed to the extreme here and we have to make do with vehicles without a steering wheel and a roll bar that doesn't serve much purpose since the drivers' helmets clearly protrude. There are still a few visible studs at the front with a slightly unsightly staircase effect, but nothing serious.

LEGO has attached a starting gate to the two single-seaters, and it's a pretty neat design, considering it's part of the CITY range. The gate features a sliding mechanism borrowed from the Speed ​​Champions range that turns the lights on and off; it's simple but effective.

The race marshal has his own booth, a checkered flag, and even a cup for the winner. Everything is ready for a little fun as the two cars are thrown around.

As for the three minifigs delivered in this box, nothing crazy, simplification is also at work here with very symbolic outfits which are not covered in sponsors for the two drivers and a torso already seen a lot for the race commissioner.

In the end, I find the exercise of adapting the Formula 1 universe to the CITY sauce rather successful with an obvious simplification of the subject covered but playability guaranteed by the different proposals of the range. LEGO has found a good compromise here which offers the youngest real play possibilities.

This isn't always the case in this range, which sometimes settles for products that are a bit lazy in terms of both substance and form. If I had had access to these products when I was younger, I would have been won over and would obviously have wanted to get the complete collection of single-seaters available.

Other sets in the CITY range allow you to complete the starting grid, and in addition to the 8 other single-seaters available, the ecosystem created by LEGO is quite complete with a transport truck, a stand for two teams and a Pit Stop:
