BACK TO HOGWARTS 2024 ON THE LEGO SHOP >>
Today we take a quick look at the contents of the LEGO Harry Potter set 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network, a small box of 190 pieces which will be offered on the official online store as well as in LEGO Stores from September 1 to 10, 2024 from €130 of purchase in products from the LEGO Harry Potter range.
As you probably already know, this derivative product is inspired by a deleted scene from the film. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in which Lucius Malfoy comes to visit Borgin in his shop while Harry has just burst through the chimney after having taken the wrong destination when leaving the Weasley house.
Lucius Malfoy is therefore logically here accompanied by his black trunk which here becomes gray and whose ornaments are embodied by a sticker stuck on the lid. The interior of the shop is symbolized by the presence of some artifacts and other skulls, it is faithful to the scene in question even if the interpretation in LEGO version is minimalist.
The back of the construction is made up of two matte plates marked with a very unsightly injection point in their center, this is the minimum service for the finish on the back of the product. From the front, the many accessories provided and the dark tint of the places allow you to find the atmosphere of the scene with in particular the hand of destiny which grabs Harry but which is here reduced to a simple wrench placed on the fireplace. Four stickers dress the whole thing.
All this is ultimately just a pretext to provide a new example of the mechanism used to "travel" by making a minifig disappear into the chimney and which is also present in the set. 76437 The Burrow Collectors' Edition.
The Lucius Malfoy minifig provided in this box is not new, it reuses the character's torso and head already seen in the set 75978 Diagon Alley, but it skips the pad-printed legs that were included. To really polish up this product for the most dedicated fans, LEGO could have added an updated version of Mr. Borgin in this box, the only version available so far being delivered in the set 40500 Wizarding World Minifigure Accessory Set (€14.99) released in June 2021.
As I said above, you will have to spend €130 on products from the LEGO Harry Potter range to get this little box. Those who purchase the set 76437 The Burrow Collectors' Edition at its public price of €259,99 from the first 10 days of September and without waiting for a possible doubling of points Insiders will therefore be automatically qualified for this promotional product to be added to their order.
It will be up to each person to decide whether this set is worth the effort or whether it will be better to skip this product which does not even offer a new minifig and wait for an opportunity to buy the set. 76437 The Burrow Collectors' Edition at a more attractive price.
Note: The product shown here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at September 9, 2024 next at 23:59 p.m. Simply post a comment below the article to participate. Today we quickly take a look at the contents of the LEGO Harry Potter set 76437 The Burrow Collectors' Edition, a box of 2405 pieces which will be available as an Insiders preview from September 1, 2024 at the public price of €259,99.
You already know, this new version of the Weasley Burrow intended for an adult audience, judging by the 18+ mention on the packaging, is logically more ambitious than that of the LEGO Harry Potter set. 75980 Attack on the Burrow (1047 pieces - €109,99) marketed between 2020 and 2022 and since removed from the manufacturer's catalog: it measures 46 cm high by 23 cm wide and is closed on all sides once folded. The product does not forget to be vaguely "playable" with the possibility of accessing the interior spaces by unfolding half of the construction. Almost everyone will find what they are looking for, the shell is not empty.
However, there is no point in wanting to compare the two versions available in the space of a few years at all costs, this new interpretation of the Weasley family Terrier immediately differentiates itself by the simple fact that the construction is a "real" house that the we can observe from every angle. Each side of the building is in fact as neat as the others and the cinema set effect disappears with the possibility of precisely choosing the angle of exposure of the product which was not the case with the toy sold between 2020 and 2022 .
The construction process here is that usually offered in other boxes which feature buildings: we go up the floors alternating between walls, doors, windows and furniture and other trinkets placed in the different spaces throughout the three booklets. Instructions provided. The angles which allow some sections of the house to slope are perfectly managed with a result that is both solid and realistic.
I leave to all those who spend their money in this box the privilege of discovering the interesting techniques used, it is necessary to justify the 260 € requested by LEGO. As is often the case, there is not really room to play the realism card by integrating real stairs between the different levels of the building; we will do with the few scales available. I am more reserved about roofs which seem a little crude to me for a product in this range, we have the impression of being dealing with a much simpler product which makes do with summary techniques.
The interior of the house is just as neat as the facade, with the usual limitations that we know from LEGO when it comes to the internal surface of the different spaces and the pile-up of furniture and various accessories and varied. However, the designer makes the effort to use the available spaces as best as possible by integrating the most significant elements. We know that the Weasley family house is very cluttered, the LEGO version is therefore consistent on this point with its profusion of furniture and decorative elements.
The vast majority of buyers of this box will only exhibit the closed construction anyway, and will no longer access the interior spaces beyond the first few minutes of discovering the references scattered there. We can therefore consider the interior of this house as a welcome bonus, even if the whole thing often resembles a doll's house that is increasingly difficult to access when you go up the floors and filled to the brim. of various and varied accessories.
We could also discuss the use of turquoise colored parts on certain windows of this construction, I do not seem to have seen this color on the house seen on the screen and LEGO seems to have been directly inspired by the model exhibited in the aisles of Warner Bros. Studio Tour de Londres which has some exterior attributes in this color.
Too bad, I would have preferred something more austere but also more faithful to the house seen in the film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. However, I can understand LEGO's desire to offer something visually colorful and attractive, the dull tone of the locations in the film not being particularly successful.
We will also note the presence of some features which will allow you to have a little fun on occasion with the endless screw support placed in the chimney which allows you to reproduce using the visible wheel the movements possible thanks to the Powder of Floo, the button that sets the brush in motion on the kitchen dishes or the other, more discreet wheel that turns the Weasley clock. It is also possible to remove a section placed at the top of the building to access the room below.
The set does not escape a large handful of stickers, as is often the case with this type of derivative product, the price to pay to benefit from a few details and other winks that will please fans. These stickers are graphically well executed, they contribute greatly to the atmosphere and the finish of the places, but in my opinion they do not really have their place in a set marked with the 18+ and Collectors' Edition.
This large box allows you to obtain 10 minifigs: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Molly Weasley, Arthur Weasley, Percy Weasley, Bill Weasley and Charlie Weasley, the latter not even being present in the films of the saga apart from a furtive appearance on a holiday souvenir photo in Harry Potter and the Prisonnier d'Azkaban.
The owl Errol who hits a window in the film completes the cast here and is featured thanks to a transparent extension attached to the building. The presence of Charlie should please fans who put the books of the saga before the films, LEGO has done its homework and the presence of the character is appreciable from this point of view.
The figurines are technically very well executed with successful pad printing for the torsos as well as a double facial expression for everyone but LEGO struggles to hide its stinginess by delivering too many neutral and a little sad legs. The outfits are generally faithful to the clothes seen on screen, even if certain colors are deliberately reinforced by LEGO to make these figurines less dull. I'm not a fan of the purple arms for Molly, I would have preferred them to be the same color as the character's torso while retaining the pretty pad printing offered.
Same observation for Ron, a few pad-printed checks on the sleeves of his shirt would have been welcome. The twins Fred and George would undoubtedly have benefited from classic legs to mark the difference in size with the other characters and Arthur should have had green legs to be perfectly faithful. In short, everything is a little approximate in terms of these different characters but we recognize them rather easily and that is the essential thing.
We could almost be satisfied with the public price of this box, lower than that of the other sets which are more or less part of the section Collectors' Edition : you will have to spend €260 to afford this product where LEGO asks €430 for the set 76417 Gringotts Wizarding Bank Collectors' Edition, 300 € for the set 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collector's Edition, 450 € for the set 75978 Diagon Alley or 470 € for the set 71043 Hogwarts Castle.
Fans will therefore have a little respite this year with a box with attractive contents and a fairly exhaustive supply of minifigs for an almost reasonable budget. However, upon arrival I have a little difficulty seeing the €260 requested by LEGO even if this box revisits its subject in a more accomplished way than what the set offered 75980 Attack on the Burrow in his time, at least on the exterior appearance of the construction. The interior spaces, notably the dining room, are more cramped here than in the 2020 set but it is logical: this product is not a real playset for children, it is a pure exhibition product closed on all its faces which offer some amenities and several functionalities.
Some may wonder if the subject really deserved this riot of coins and money, so they will happily settle for the previous set on the same theme. Others will see there a new element in a collection of detailed constructions which grows a little more each year with more or less relevant proposals, this building will then have its effect in the background behind the model of Hogwarts or the Diagon Alley . A collection always needs pieces that are less charismatic than others; it is often at this price that the most successful elements are well highlighted.

To summarize, here are the offers planned from September 1 to 10, 2024:

Today it is a LEGO Certified Store Chilean which allows us to obtain a first visual of the large set from the LEGO Harry Potter range expected for the start of the school year and which rumor announces to us under the reference LEGO Harry Potter Collectors' Edition 76437 The Burrow with 2405 pieces in the box and a public price which would be set at €259,99.
The same rumor announces a construction almost 50 cm high and a fairly substantial supply of minifigs with 10 characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley, Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Molly Weasley, Arthur Weasley, Percy Weasley, Bill Weasley and Charlie Weasley.
We also know that the sale of the product will be accompanied by an exclusive product offered for the occasion, the reference 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network.
The official announcement of the product should logically not take long.
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Harry Potter set 76440 Triwizard Tournament: The Arrival, a box of 1229 pieces available on the official online store as well as in the LEGO Stores since June 1 at the public price of €139,99.
The product pitch is simple: it reproduces the arrival of the Beauxbâtons and Durmstrang schools during the Triwizard Tournament. LEGO will have deemed it appropriate to bring together the two schools in a single box rather than offering two different sets, why not but it is at the cost of some compromises, notably on the format of the Beauxbatons carriage.
The latter was in fact much more detailed in the set 75958 Beauxbatons' Carriage: Arrival at Hogwarts (430 pieces - €49.99) marketed in 2019, it takes on the appearance of a carriage from the Disney range and this year you have to be content with just one Abraxan to pull it. It's a bit sad as it is even if the roof can be removed to install figurines and the doors open on both sides.
We can imagine that the carriage is not the star of the set and that it is in fact only a "bonus" to accompany the Durmstrang boat. This one is rather faithful to the version seen on the screen even if the construction of 35 cm long by 45 cm high necessarily leaves out some details. The curves of the ship are respected, LEGO integrates the right number of masts and sails and the object does not use meta-parts for the hull which has the merit of allowing this box to offer a great experience of assembly.
Some will find the choice of colors for the hull and the different fittings a little off-topic but I understand LEGO's desire to make this boat a more visually attractive product than it is on the screen.
LEGO does not separate the two main constructions of the product and only provides a single instruction booklet in the box. However, four-handed assembly remains possible by using the instructions in digital format in addition to the paper booklet and by sharing the bags (1 and 2 for the carriage, 3 to 10 for the boat).
The sails are made of the usual soft material which I find a little out of place on this type of high-end toy, you will have to be careful not to stain or tear them. Only the central main sail is flanked by a pattern on one of its sides, the other three remain white on both sides.
The ship offers a little playability with two interior spaces invented by the designer and which are relatively accessible. You will still need to have small fingers to be able to install a figurine on it even if I think that no one will really play with this boat and that its destiny is to end up as a decoration on the corner of a shelf. The construction overall looks great, even at this scale, and the subject probably does not deserve an ultra-detailed and expensive interpretation which would then become inaccessible to the youngest.
I specify this because I have the impression that this is more often the case in recent years, a part was missing from this box and I am certain that I have carefully checked the contents of all the paper bags of the product. Sometimes I leave a coin at the bottom of a bag and the lack of transparency of these new packaging doesn't help, but that wasn't the case here. Do not hesitate to indicate in the comments if you too have recently noticed the recurring absence of parts in your boxes.
It's the sticker fair in this box and the stickers concerned are graphically very well executed. However, I don't change my mind about them, knowing that this product is more of a construction intended for exhibition than a real toy with which we will have hours of fun. Replaying the "arrival" of a boat and a flying carriage is not very exciting, it must be admitted. It's hard to do without these stickers, they really help to give the boat its appearance.
As for the figurines provided, it is minimum service with two representatives from each of the schools and the Tournament judge: Madame Maxime and Fleur Delacour for Beauxbâtons, Viktor Krum and Igor Karkaroff for Durmstrang and Barty Crouch Sr. (or Barty Crouch) from Ministry of Magic.
It's thin and we could discuss the execution of Madame Maxime which seems to me a little ridiculous here as it stands without her coat with a fur collar to hide the top of her legs. The clothing is only symbolized here by the pad printing of the pieces and the whole thing falls a little flat in my opinion with the oversized limbs coming from the Avatar range. I prefer the 2019 version with the "half dress".
The figurine of Fleur Delacour is for its part a nice evolution of that of 2019 with a torso which benefits here from a little more subtlety to embody the folds of the character's outfit.
The figurines of Viktor Krum and Igor Karkaroff are correctly executed and the outfits are consistent with those seen on screen, just missing the ushankas worn by the two characters when they arrived in the Great Hall. We'll do without. The pad prints are successful and the color of Krum's accessory matches the color of the pad print which runs along the edges of the coat worn by the character.
Barty Crouch Sr.'s torso is new, but the effect applied is a bit of a failure; I can't find here the character's outfit seen on screen during the Tournament. Nor the actor's hair for that matter. Nothing serious, collectors will in any case be delighted to add one more supporting role to their collection of minifigs.
This product seems to me to be rather convincing upon arrival, knowing that the Durmstrang boat deserved a new, more modern interpretation than that of the set. 4768 The Durmstrang Ship marketed in 2005 and which has logically aged very poorly.
The version proposed here is successful, detailed, colorful and faithful, it will also necessarily appeal to all those who want to do something other than what is intended like a Spanish galleon or a pirate ship and this product should therefore easily find its audience. The presence of the Beauxbatons carriage was not essential, especially in a very economical version, but it is still a good idea for those who do not have the 2019 version in their collection.
The supply of figurines seems a little sparse to me for €140, but the star of the set is Durmstrang's ship which offers a real construction experience without being too easy. Too bad for the load of stickers.
