helicarrier lego ideasThis is the creation everyone is talking about today. The LEGO ideas project put online by Yo-Sub Joo alias ysomt combines the superlatives: His Helicarrier consists of over 22.000 bricks and is over 2.0 meters long and 1.15 m wide. And this creation is making its buzz while promoting the LEGO Ideas concept in passing, even if it is more than obvious that this project has absolutely no chance of passing the possible review phase to which it could be invited. if it reaches the 10.000 necessary supports.

Even if LEGO decided to release a Helicarrier, and admitting that it is in UCS format, it is unrealistic to believe that a set containing more than 22.000 bricks could end up on store shelves. And even in the event of a "retouching" of the original design of the machine by a team of LEGO designers, the definitive version necessarily watered down to the extreme would be all the more disappointing ... One can legitimately wonder why this type of project is accepted on the LEGO Ideas platform, if not to do a little promotion for the concept at low cost.

There remains a magnificent creation that can be discovered from every angle on the page dedicated to this project who takes advantage of his sudden notoriety to garner a lot of support.

Please note, this is a 3D rendering under POVray of the proposed MOC, the images visible on the project page are not photos of a "hard" MOC.

LEGO Cuusoo / ideas

The advantage (or not) with the late LEGO Cuusoo, now LEGO Ideas, is that as soon as a project reaches 10.000 supporters, you don't hear about it for many long months, while the excitement subsides. Like that, when the review phase finally ends, the pill of rejection based on more or less valid arguments goes much better.

And this is undoubtedly what is likely (unfortunately) to happen to the two long-term projects which have just reached the fateful threshold of 10.000 supporters and which will therefore fall back into oblivion while waiting for the LEGO team to look into on their fate and decide their future.

On the one hand, the project Assault on Wayne Manor of DarthKy who sells us dreams with a well-supplied modular that will only find its salvation if LEGO decides to celebrate Batman's 75th birthday as it should, and on the other, TheInvisible Hand of LDiEgo, a brilliant project launched in 2011 (I was telling you on the blog in December 2011) which has regularly won over fans of the LEGO Star Wars range in need of new products and new ships.

These two projects will therefore go to the review phase, unless LEGO decides to sacrifice them on the altar of the new rules of the so-called "participatory" platform. I don't give too much of their skin, the first being too opulent to enter the price bracket of the Cuusoo sets marketed so far, the second happily encroaching on the new source of Disney's greenbacks. But you never know, maybe at LEGO someone will dare to take the risk of satisfying 10.000 potential customers who have shown over the months (and years) their support for pretty, creative and ambitious initiatives.

As I often say to be sure I'm not too mistaken, wait and see ...

PS: I know, I fished, I went for a walk on LEGO Ideas, but it was just to find something to publish this little bit disillusioned post, so I forgive myself.

21108 Ghostbusters

It is on the unofficial facebook page dedicated to the set 21108 Ghostbusters that Brent Waller unveils the box of the set of which he received a copy and he takes the opportunity to make the comparison between his original Cuusoo project and the official version redesigned by the LEGO designer Marcos Bessa.

The Cuusoo logo logically disappears from the packaging of the set in favor of a discreet link to the new platform LEGO Ideas on the back of the box.

LEGO Ghostbusters set 21108 will be available June 1, 2014 on the LEGO Shop at the US rate of $ 49.99, which should translate into the modest sum of 49.99 € with us.

lego ideas

Goodbye LEGO Cuusoo, hello LEGO Ideas. The participatory platform which was based on the concept of crowfunding Japanese Cuusoo and who until now was still in the Beta, evolves and behind the change of name, many rules relating to the submission of projects and their validation are updated.

As of April 30, all submitted projects will have a period of one year to reach the 10.000 supports required for a transition to the development phase. review.

Ongoing projects will have a period of one year from the launch of LEGO Ideas to achieve this goal. Beyond the time limit, the projects that have not reached 10.000 supports will expire, the counter will be reset and they will have to be resubmitted.

Members aged 13 to 18 will be able to submit projects but parental authorization will be required for a possible transition to the review.

LEGO Ideas will now be fully integrated into the LEGO Galaxy and it will be possible to identify yourself using the Lego id which is already in use on many sites in the LEGO universe such as ReBrick or the LEGO Shop. All existing projects and comments will be migrated to the new platform.

LEGO Ideas 21109 Exo Suit

The announcement was made by the blog New Elementary, whose author is involved in the marketing process around the set: Peter Reid's Exo Suit (LEGO reference 21109), which had gathered 10.000 supporters on Cuusoo and successfully passed the review phase in October 2013 before disappearing from radar screens, will finally be released in August 2014 and the US public price is estimated at around $ 34.99.

Above, you can discover the logo that will dress the product box, judiciously designed by a team of AFOLs associated with the project to attract the most nostalgic fans. As indicated in the visual above, this is not the commercial version of this exoskeleton which was adapted by designer Mark Stafford, you will still have to wait to discover the official visuals.

The release of the set 21108 Ghostbusters remains on his side scheduled for the month of June 2014, and I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that you can now buy replacement arms stamped with the white ghost logo for the four minifigs in the set (Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler et Winston Zeddemore) which unfortunately are not equipped.
