Notice to LEGO polybag collectors: LEGO Harry Potter references 30651 Quidditch Practice and Speed Champions 30657 McLaren Solus GT are now online on the shelves of the German brand JB Spielwaren.
The 55-piece LEGO Harry Potter bag featuring Cho Chang in his Ravenclaw (Ravenclaw) house outfit will be a promotional product offered soon subject to purchase by the brand, the 95-piece bag under official McLaren license which will allow to assemble a micro version of the Solus GT also available in the set 76918 McLaren Solus GT & McLaren F1 LM (44.99 €) will be on sale from March 1, 2023 at a price of 3.39 €.
These two new sachets should quickly be available elsewhere, in particular via the secondary market.
You will find a complete summary of the different sachets planned for 2023 at this address.
It's time for the announcement of four new sets of the LEGO Speed Champions range which will be available from March 1, 2023 via the official online store and in LEGO Stores.
Four manufacturers will be honored: Ferrari, Pagani, Porsche and McLaren. These four new sets will join the reference 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) (319 pieces - 24.99 €) unveiled a few weeks ago.
Please note that the retail price of vehicles sold individually has changed from €19.99 to €24.99:
|
Logical continuation of the marketing of the LEGO Speed Champions set 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T with his Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel) minifig, the LEGO Speed Champions set 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) (319 pieces) will come from March 1, 2023 to complete the series of products derived from the franchise Fast & Furious with the vehicle of Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and the minifig of the character.
The set announced at the public price of 24.99 € is already online on the site of the German brand JB Spielwaren.
The two new additions to the LEGO Speed Champions range scheduled for August 1, 2022 are now online on the official store and those who still doubted it are now set: the retail price of these two boxes is set at €24.99.
We can always justify this increase in the public price of these small sets in the range which feature a vehicle and a figurine by invoking the two licenses used here with the James Bond franchise on one side and the Fast & Furious franchise on the other.
LEGO had announced this increase in part of the products in its catalog a few weeks ago and we knew that the references of the LEGO Speed Champions range were concerned with a passage from 19.99 € to 24.99 € per unit, an increase of 25%. It is therefore probably not the fault of Daniel Craig and Vin Diesel if these boxes are displayed at a price that is becoming a little excessive for what they have to offer.
|
Today, the Jouéclub brand is spilling the beans: we get the official visuals of the two new additions to the LEGO Speed Champions range, expected from August 1, 2022.
On the one hand, the set 76911 Aston Martin DB5 (here at Jouéclub) with its 298 pieces, its four license plates and its minifigure of James Bond (Daniel Craig), on the other the reference 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T (here at Jouéclub) with its 345 pieces and its minifig of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel).
The retail price of these two boxes under license should logically be the one provided after the increase announced recently, ie 24.99 € per unit.
Forward for two new promotional offers valid on the official LEGO online store and in LEGO Stores with two polybags offered from 40 € of purchase but under different conditions depending on the bag concerned:
|
The offer concerning the CITY polybag is valid until June 14th, the one that allows you to obtain the Speed Champions polybag is valid until June 19th. These two new offers are obviously cumulative with each other and with the one that currently allows you to obtain a copy of the LEGO IDEAS set until June 14th 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures from 160 € of purchase without restriction of range.
If you prefer cars over flowers and butterflies, you can currently get a copy of the LEGO Speed Champions polybag. 30434 Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro from 40 € of purchase.
The bag is not automatically added to your order, you must use the code FD22 in the corresponding field of your basket to obtain this polybag of 97 pieces.
Knowing that you can only use one promotional code per order, you will therefore have to skip the LEGO Friends polybag 30417 Flower and Butterfly currently offered from 40 € of purchase with the code MD22.
Today we take a quick tour of the contents of the LEGO Speed Champions set 76906 1970 Ferrari 512M, a box of 291 pieces sold at the retail price of €19.99 since March 1st.
With the Countach of the set 76908 Lamborghini Countach, this reference is one of my two favorites of the 2022 wave: the two vehicles seem to me to make the most of the LEGO inventory and the relatively limited possibilities of the current format of the vehicles in the range.
We assemble here the vehicle bearing the number 4 which won in 1970 the 9 hours of Kyalami in South Africa with at the wheel the Belgian Jacky Ickx and the Italian Ignazio Giunti. LEGO is doing quite well with a fairly faithful reproduction of the reference vehicle and the designer, well helped by the use of the canopy usually used on many ships in the Star Wars universe, did not have to struggle too much with curves of this Ferrari. It can be concluded that the subject is well covered, the result is convincing and the thing will stand out on a shelf.
If the choice of this canopy seemed obvious to the designer of the product, the fact remains that its use causes a major problem: The Ferrari 512 M is a two-seater car and there is only enough to slide here. a minifig in the center of the vehicle. The canopy is also too round and tapered to stick perfectly to that of the real Ferrari 512 M, but it is only by comparing the LEGO version with the real vehicle that this defect really manifests itself and we can easily be satisfied with this Overall very decent interpretation.
The products of the LEGO Speed Champions range are above all toys for children and the possibility of installing a minifig at the wheel of the different vehicles is essential. Suggesting the presence of two seats in the cockpit would no doubt have been possible by reducing the space available for each seat, but it would then no longer have been possible to put a minifig at the controls.
The assembly is as usual quickly dispatched and it is obviously necessary to apply a large handful of stickers to dress this Ferrari 512 M and recreate some aesthetic details. The canopy and both Tiles used on the side of the front headlights are stamped, as is the Ferrari logo present on the 1x1 pieces placed on the sides of the vehicle. The canopy and the sides of the headlights are of Dark Red mismatched, it's a bit of a shame knowing that the stickers are perfectly matched. LEGO provides half a dozen of these 1x1 pieces flanked by the Ferrari logo, but four of them are installed in unexposed areas.
Too bad for the headlights which are summarized here in their simplest form, the transparency effect falls a little in the water. Two optical units in the form of stickers to be placed under non-tinted transparent parts would have been welcome. As often, lovers of original and sometimes surprising techniques will be served, I won't say more and I advise you to skim the photos above only quickly if you don't want to spoil the pleasure.
The overall look of this Ferrari 512 M benefits from the very limited number of studs visible on the surface: there are only six left and that's enough to mark the LEGO spirit without disfiguring the model. The rest of the body is perfectly smooth, it's successful. LEGO rims in Pearl Gold also available since this year in two sets from the LEGO CITY range are a vague illusion: they are the right color but the real Ferrari 512 M was fitted with five-spoke rims. No central mirror on the roof, it will be necessary to do without, and the two white fins at the rear are integrated a little roughly into the bodywork via a few transparent parts.
I said it above, I'm still really a fan of this model which pays a nice tribute to the reference vehicle despite the few flaws and aesthetic shortcuts that stand out if you take the time to compare the model with photos of the real one version. I gladly forgive these discrepancies because the result has cachet and personality, which is not always the case with products from the Speed Champions range with supercars that all end up looking more or less alike. Even if the twenty euros requested by LEGO seems a bit exaggerated to me, I make the effort without waiting for a price drop elsewhere, it's not every day that the LEGO Speed Champions range really manages to seduce me.
Note: The set presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at April 14, 2022 next at 23:59 p.m. Just post a comment under the article to participate.
