Alongside the announcement of the new LEGO Speed Champions, CITY, DUPLO and Collectibles under official Formula 1 license, LEGO is also unveiling today two sets for adults on the same theme with on one side an ICONS reference which joins the set 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna (€79.99) in the pure exhibition products section and on the other a Ferrari single-seater in the LEGO Technic range.
These two new products, expected on shelves on March 1, 2025, are now available for pre-order on the official online store as well as on Amazon:

There must have been some stock left or the previous offer didn't motivate many people: LEGO is bringing out the reference again 5008946 McLaren P1 Logo, a small promotional set of 178 pieces already offered to members of the Insiders program last August for the purchase of a copy of the LEGO Technic Ultimate set 42172 McLaren P1 (€449,99). This time the offer is valid until September 17, 2024 and the same conditions apply.

It's up to you to decide whether getting this little promotional product is worth paying for the set. 42172 McLaren P1 at a high price knowing that this big box is already offered at a much more attractive price elsewhere than at LEGO:
Today we take a very quick look at the contents of the LEGO set 5008946 McLaren P1 Logo, a small promotional set of 178 pieces offered until August 7, 2024 for the purchase of a copy of the LEGO Technic Ultimate set 42172 McLaren P1 (449,99 €).
I'm not drawing you a drawing, this product allows you to assemble a logo to set in motion using an integrated mechanism and a crank, nothing crazy on paper.
However, fans of the LEGO Technic universe should find what they're looking for as LEGO uses a lot of gears to achieve the result. It is even possible to make the McLaren logo appear by turning in one direction before moving the logo around twenty degrees from left to right by turning in the other direction. Why not, knowing that fans of this range rarely hesitate to discover the subtleties of a more or less complex mechanism, the one proposed here remaining visible after the assembly of the product.
This promotional product is exclusively intended for all those who will make the effort to spend €450 for the launch of the LEGO Technic Ultimate set 42172 McLaren P1 and we can therefore consider that the manufacturer is targeting a clientele of unconditional fans who will be satisfied with this somewhat simplistic-looking construction but which still offers a few minutes of construction. Everyone will then have an opinion on the decorative potential of the thing, but the proposal seems to me perfectly suited to "reward" those who will not wait for the inevitable drop in price of the set 42172 McLaren P1.
The product is delivered in the usual soft yellow box, the parts are simply thrown into a resealable bag and the packaging of a promotional set offered for €450 purchase would undoubtedly have deserved a little more effort. No sticker on this product, the two pieces stamped with patterns are therefore pad printed.

Onward to a big batch of new products in numerous ranges which are now available on the official online store and some of which were until now offered for pre-order.
As is often the case, there are some nice things in this wave, but the vast majority of these boxes will be available quickly for much less expensive elsewhere. As usual, it's up to you to decide whether you should go in without delay and pay full price for these boxes or whether you should show a little patience and wait for the inevitable reductions that will be offered in the weeks and months to come at Amazon, on FNAC.com, at Cdiscount, at Auchan and at a few other resellers.
