If you are looking for the best opportunity to collect all 12 characters from the 27th series of collectible minifigs, know that Cdiscount is currently offering the box of 36 figurines at the price of €109,99.
You will basically get three complete sets of 12 characters to share with two of your acquaintances or friends and you will save time scanning each of the boxes available in your toy store knowing that someone will probably have gone before you to collect all the wolf masters... All for €3,05 per figurine.
In short, it's up to you and you can still optimize the purchase by adding something to your basket and using the promo code. 15DES129 which currently allows you to get a reduction of €15 from €129 of purchase.
Today we're taking a quick look at the 27th (already!) series of collectible LEGO minifigs that will be available from January 1, 2025 under the LEGO reference 71048 Collectible Minifigures Series 27 and at the public price of €3,99 per minifig.
This new series of 12 characters will, as usual, allow you to obtain a rather varied assortment of figurines, some of which come with accessories or animals: the wolf master, the pirate quartermaster, the Steampunk inventor, the fan dressed as a pterodactyl, the bogeyman, the jetpack pilot, the cat lover, the skater, the child astronomer, the Cupid, the fan dressed as a hamster and the stuffed toy collector.
As with most of these figure series, the selection is often a little uneven with a few figures that stand out and a few that fillers not particularly flamboyant that ensure the filling of the collection. Some of these figurines are probably not worth spending time on, if they were delivered in sets of the CITY or DREAMZzz ranges, we would not even notice their particularities or their possible lack of originality. Here, it is above all the presence of accessories or new animals that allows certain characters to become indispensable, more than their pad printing or the subject covered.
Without getting too involved, we can predict that the star of this selection will be for many fans the master of wolves, a member of the Wolfpack who is accompanied for the occasion by a completely new wolf that we will probably see again quickly elsewhere in other shades. The animal is very successful and it is generic enough to come and populate a forest diorama or a zoo.
The associated minifig benefits from its side from a very pretty pad printing which highlights the faction concerned on an outfit with many details and a double face with one of the expressions simulating a howl. It is a flawless and this minifig will probably be the most requested.
The cat lover is immediately identifiable because he wears a sweater full of cats, his pants are loaded with fur, and he's accompanied by a cat with a completely new furry coat in this form. It's well executed, but I'm not sure you should spend $3,99 on this figure considering that the cat in question will likely make several appearances in future sets. If you're a cat person, you'll probably disagree.
The hamster costume fan will please anyone who collects the costumed character figures that LEGO regularly offers. The costume is cute, the little cucumber slice is pretty, the pink hands are appropriate and it will be one more costume on the row dedicated to this theme.
The cartoon-looking bogeyman is in my opinion a little more interesting, with a very accomplished pad printing of the visqge. We will also remember the presence of a book whose cover and the inside page are flanked by pad printing in the theme. Why not, if you are nostalgic for the Monster Fighters or Hidden Side universes.
The Pirate Quartermaster is a magnificent figurine with a successful design with a very detailed outfit and the presence of two new elements: the hairstyle with its integrated headband and the cockatoo that accompanies the character. It's superb, even if the white area of the neck is a little duller in real life than on the official visuals. This figurine should also find its audience very quickly, many dioramas are just waiting for it.
The fan dressed as a pterodactyl will also join the collection made up of figurines in costume, it's cute but not very inspired as it is and I don't see the €3,99 requested here in terms of pad printing and originality.
The plush toy collector is more polished with her pink outfit with a fluffy look and her two new plush toys which will perhaps bring back memories to those who collect the multiple variations of Furby or Squishies.
The skater doesn't seem particularly inspired to me, even though she comes with green hair incorporating a backwards cap with a strand sticking out and she uses a longboard that's new to LEGO. The character's outfit is in keeping with the subject matter, but I don't find the panache expected for a figurine sold individually. It's too generic, it deserves a CITY set, not a separate marketing.
Cupid is cute, no doubt about it, but I find his look perhaps too typical of the 80s at LEGO because of the combination of red and yellow colors. It's very personal. The wings fixed on a tenon are detachable, they are compact enough not to distort the figurine and this character will undoubtedly easily find its audience with its two essential accessories: a red bow and a heart. A best-seller in the making that will make LEGO fans in love happy on Valentine's Day.
The Steampunk inventor is in my opinion one of the real successes of this series with a superb pad printing and an attention to detail that will undoubtedly make this superb minifig a future star of retrofuturistic dioramas. The accessory provided to build and attach to the character's hand is in the theme, it is really very successful.
The child astronomer is acceptable with his nice t-shirt and his prosthetic hand to attach to the molded arm to accommodate the element. The associated telescope offers a little construction for a very satisfactory result. The jetpack pilot is also very acceptable with a nice outfit flanked by the Octan logo, a helmet integrating a red visor and two interesting faces. The jetpack to build is not ultra-detailed but the whole works rather well and I have the impression of seeing the amount requested.
As I said above, I'm not sure that each of these minifigs deserves the €3,99 that LEGO is asking. Some have clearly been the object of all the attention where others are less original or technically less accomplished and this is a bit the lot of all the series of collectible characters marketed so far.
Fortunately, the ones that stand out are real successes, you will have to act quickly if you want to hope to be able to find them on the shelves of your favorite toy store or invest in complete boxes that will allow you to obtain them without having to spend hours there.
I would also like to point out in passing that Minifigure Madness is currently offering the set of two boxes (72 figurines in total) at €231.98 including postage using the code S27preorder or, 3.22 € the minifig delivered to your home by DHL Express.
