Review : LEGO FORTNITE 77072 Peely Bone

Today we take a quick look at the contents of the LEGO FORTNITE set 77072 Peely Bone, a box of 1414 pieces stamped 18+ and available since October 1, 2024 at the public price of €99,99. It is now confirmed, the products of the FORTNITE range will only be exclusive to the official store until December 31, 2024 and they will then be available from other retailers.

This box is the "adult" guarantee of the brand new range of derivative products currently made up of four references, with here a pure exhibition product which takes up all the codes of the usual LEGO models: a black and sober base to stage the character in question here, a small presentation plate which is responsible for confirming the subject treated and which adds a "collector" side to the product, a construction a little fragile in places which is not intended to be handled intensively and a rather satisfactory level of detail.

Peely Bone or Peeled Banana is a skin available in the FORTNITE game since Chapter 2 of the first season and even if the LEGO version takes some inevitable aesthetic shortcuts, fans will immediately recognize the reference in question with this 37 cm high model which also offers a nice construction challenge.

Don't spoil too much of the process of building this banana, that's all you get for your €100 and the satisfaction of seeing it sit on a desk or shelf afterwards. There's only one sticker in this box, the one to place on the back of the top of the banana, everything else is pad printed.

Also note that the character is attached to the base for obvious reasons of stability, so you will not be able to remove it from its black base to make it take improbable poses. You can, however, orient the arms to vary the staging a little.

The presentation of the character seems very successful to me with the presence of the rock on which the leg of the "living" part of the banana rests and you will understand during the assembly of the product thanks to the instruction booklet of more than 200 pages how the designer managed the constraints of balance between the full section and the skeleton part of the construction.

We can once again regret the absence of a figurine in this box, there was however plenty of room to integrate one on the presentation support provided based on the minifig version available in the LEGO FORTNITE video game.

At the risk of repeating myself, I find it a bit paradoxical that LEGO does not play the game of a universe that is full of diverse and varied skins by multiplying the figurines. Unless the manufacturer has possibly planned a series of collectible figurines to expand the range.

This box is in my opinion largely up to its claims as long as the subject speaks to you and the skin in question here is familiar to you. This product is also a beautiful exercise in style on the part of the designer with its anatomy visible on one of the faces and its relative fidelity to the reference skin.

Should you spend €100 to display the thing or wait for the price of this box to drop at a third-party reseller with the risk of a possible prolonged stock shortage at LEGO during the end-of-year holidays? It's up to you, the LEGO FORTNITE set 77073 Battle Bus being sold at the same price and may be a better choice if the budget is not extensible.
