LEGO | Marvel Spider-Man vs. Mysterio: The Daily Bugle - Buildable Building Set - Superhero Toy - Robot Figure & 7 Minifigures -
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Harry Potter set 76470 Enchanted Flying Ford Anglia, a box of 868 pieces currently available for pre-order on the official store at a public price of €79,99 and which will be available from January 1, 2026.
This Harry Potter licensed product, in my opinion, perfectly illustrates a very good initial idea that was somewhat wasted. Creating a version of the Ford Anglia at this scale wasn't a bad idea, and the 25cm long, 10cm wide, and 9cm high vehicle included in the box is perfectly acceptable.
It's not quite up to the standard of what LEGO regularly offers us in the vehicle section of the LEGO ICONS range, but we still get a nice, reasonably well-proportioned model of the thing.
Even better, LEGO doesn't just deliver a model here; it's also a toy with a feature: pushing the center of the rear bumper opens the trunk and doors, and then pushing the center of the front bumper ejects the trunk lid. It's perfectly integrated, works every time, and provides a bit of fun with this product, which will inevitably end up gathering dust on a shelf.
As I mentioned earlier, the initial idea was somewhat spoiled, and for two very different reasons. The first, which isn't surprising at all, is the unacceptable color variations on the Ford Anglia's bodywork. The photos I'm showing you here soften this effect, but I promise you the difference is visually obvious in real life.
Let's overlook this technical flaw; we know that fans generally don't hold it against LEGO, and few voices are raised on the subject. We'll also mention in this section the color difference between the stickers and the pieces they're applied to, which is visible in the photos of the sticker placed on the front of the vehicle's hood.
The official visuals are, as usual, expertly retouched to erase these technical flaws; this is not what one would call "beautiful work" on the part of LEGO.
The second reason: the choice to associate the vehicle with vaguely lifelike representations of Ron Weasley and Harry Potter. I'm not including Hedwig in this; it's such a symbolic gesture that we can't really criticize her.
Why not, after all this is an iconic scene from the saga and the car would probably not have the same interest for younger fans without the two protagonists accompanied by Hedwig.
But in my opinion, LEGO completely misses the mark with two minifigures ready to be placed in the seats of the Ford Anglia, whose utterly flat faces are made up of stickers with an improbable design. They almost should have simply left those faces blank and let the fans' imaginations do the rest.
We know that the Harry Potter face included in the set 76443 Hagrid & Harry's Motorcycle Ride was hardly more convincing than those delivered here, and LEGO faces a problem that is almost insoluble unless they go and invent a dedicated generic face mold for figures at this scale.
Even the graphic designer tasked with drawing the two facial expressions, in my opinion, failed miserably from beginning to end, and in any case, it's not in the LEGO spirit as we know it, with the generally very successful faces of the minifigs.
The good news: It's possible to remove the two figures without disassembling anything, so the Ford Anglia can be displayed like a regular car, empty of its ridiculously-looking occupants. Hedwig is almost a success compared to the appearance of the two young Hogwarts students, who look more like they're sitting on the toilet than in a car.
In short, this set will undoubtedly find its audience because the vehicle is well-designed and this version of the Ford Anglia can be displayed alongside other vehicles of roughly the same scale. The integrated mechanism, which adds a touch of interaction, will entertain those who enjoy the building process, and the number of stickers to apply is limited.
So there are enough reasons to give in, knowing that Ron and Harry can be portrayed differently, I gave you a hint above.
Note: The product shown here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at December 23, 2025 at 23:59 PM. Simply post a comment under the article to participate. Shipping to the winner will only begin on January 1, 2026.
