11208 lego marvel team spidey pirate ship review 1

Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Marvel set 11208 Team Spidey Pirate ShipA box of 201 pieces, available since January 1, 2026, at a retail price of €49,99. This product is marked 4+, which explains, but does not justify, the discrepancy between its very limited inventory and its frankly high retail price.

That being said, the playset offered here provides a certain amount of volume and very acceptable playability, thanks in particular to the use of very large elements designed to allow younger children to smoothly transition from the DUPLO universe to that of classic bricks. System.

We assemble a pirate ship that simply follows the conventions of the genre while simplifying the result, an outpost equipped with a slide and a few additional elements that allow you to obtain a complete playset without having to immediately pay again.

Those familiar with this range already know that everything here is pad-printed, resulting in some nicely decorated pieces for the Spider-Man-themed pirate ship. It's hard to imagine doing anything else with these elements, but we're not going to complain that LEGO is doing without stickers. The flexible plastic sail is also nicely printed with a very cartoonish effect that should appeal to younger children.

In terms of features, there's a working cannon at the front of the pirate ship, two cannons on the sides of Green Goblin's speedboat, and a launcher for Tiles integrated into the outpost wall.

The boat to be built here is a frankly symbolic version of the one seen on screen in the animated series (see excerpts below), and that's almost a shame. There was potential to offer a more elaborate version of the boat, but the 4+ rating of this product, which implies an extreme simplification, unfortunately prevents us from doing so.

The product allows you to obtain four minifigures, all equipped with short legs because the set is inspired by the animated series. Spidey and his Amazing FriendsThe four minifigures are brand new and will likely remain exclusive to this range, a treat for collectors of variants who want to collect everything LEGO offers featuring these characters. The pirate theme is prominently featured, with headgear for all the characters, including three bicorn hats printed in their respective owners' colors.

The torsos are all new, as is the Green Goblin head; the heads of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, and Ghost Spider are the same ones already seen in the Marvel line. The pirate-themed printing is really well done, with costumes, for example, transformed into frock coats and adorned with a very fitting belt.

The legs remain neutral for the entire cast, which is a bit of a shame because there were interesting graphic possibilities on the theme of Pirates and the characters seen on screen are all equipped with colorful boots that LEGO could have reproduced on the legs of the four figures.

In short, in my opinion, it's still quite successful in pleasing a young fan of the animated series, an adult collector will find here enough to make some new variants from a hypothetical multiverse and all that remains is to wait for this box to be available for around 30 or 35 € elsewhere than at LEGO to give in.
