LEGO Technic 1966 Ford GT40 MKII Racing Car - Collector's Model for Adults - Mechanical Set with V8 Engine, Stunning Colors & Accessories
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Marvel set 76342 Spider-Man vs. Mysterio: The Daily Bugle, a box of 781 pieces which is currently available for pre-order at the public price of €109,99 on the official online store and which will be available from January 1, 2026.
As you've probably gathered, this product struggles to stand on its own in its current form, even though the proposed construction is relatively substantial. The set's contents will only truly come into their own when combined with other sets. 76317 Peter Parker's Apartment et 76324 Spider-Man vs. Oscorp to create the urban playset that every young Marvel fan probably dreamed of. A Daily Bugle for everyone: this one for younger readers, the set version 76178 Daily Bugle for adult fans. As I've already mentioned, I prefer the colors used here to those of the adult version, which I find a bit drab.
Nothing new here regarding the building itself; it remains architecturally quite basic, although the facade is well-executed given the limited inventory. The rear of the building features various easily accessible spaces filled with diverse accessories. It will be possible to enclose the building by combining two copies of the set to create something a bit more substantial.
This Daily Bugle even boasts the obligatory fire escape and a section of sidewalk, adding context and expanding the playset's base for improved stability. The connection pins for linking the set to other products in the same style are included; all that's left is to pay for it.
I wonder how far LEGO will take this idea; there are immense possibilities for expanding such a play space, and I can already imagine a very large urban playset with architecture that is certainly simplified but visually coherent.
We know, however, that LEGO doesn't hesitate to quickly abandon some interesting ideas to refresh its product lines; only time will tell if the neighborhood will expand even further. It's unlikely that LEGO will offer neutral builds, such as shops or houses somewhat removed from the context of the iconic action scenes, but we can always dream.
This product comes with two large sheets of stickers, and for once, instead of complaining about them again and again, I want to highlight the work of the brand's graphic designers. These stickers, as usual in the LEGO Marvel range, are truly excellent and give the various products that slightly cartoonish feel, with real visual consistency between the builds, minifigures, and the diverse scenes and motifs depicted by these stickers. However, the print quality still hasn't improved, and minor imperfections are often noticeable on these stickers.
The Rhino mech you can build here isn't particularly well done; it's barely on par with other equally crude creations, such as the MK38 "Igor" armor from the LEGO Marvel set. 76315 Iron Man's Laboratory: Hall of ArmorWe can take solace in the relatively decent playability of this sufficiently articulated mech, which can take a few poses and, above all, accommodate the Rhino figure included in this box.
As for the included minifigures, we get a large handful of characters already heavily featured by LEGO. Mysterio is magnificent with a high-quality, original print; Venomized Captain America is very decent with his nicely executed shield; Rhino makes do with plain legs, but the torso and helmet are really well done; and Miles Morales benefits from a new version of his torso.
J. Jonah Jameson, Spider-Man, and Ghost Spider, for their part, reuse elements already seen in other sets. The Daily Bugle editor reuses Creed Bratton's torso (21336 The Office) and the head already seen in the set 76178 Daily BugleSpider-Man uses the torso available since 2021 and Ghost Spider uses the torso available since 2019.
The final verdict is mixed for a set priced at €110, with only four of the seven characters being either new or created specifically for this release. It's a meager offering for a new product in the range; only LEGO could endlessly reuse elements from minifigures seen over the years in new products without anyone batting an eye. And that's not even mentioning the reuse of the same parts across different themes, resulting in numerous unrelated characters who all share the same face.
Taken individually, this set might seem a bit basic for what it offers, but when considered within the context of the larger playset currently on the market, this Daily Bugle isn't so bad after all. I really like the visual identity of this playable New York for young fans; I find the compromise between the limited inventory and the final product very appealing.
However, there is no justification for paying full price for this box; we will patiently wait for a good discount elsewhere than at LEGO or at the very least an interesting promotional offer associated with a doubling of Insiders points.
