Review : LEGO Marvel 76344 Iron Man Mark 3 Collector's Edition

Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Marvel set 76344 Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors' Edition, a box of 1297 pieces currently available for pre-order on the official online store as well as at some retailers at a public price of €129,99 and which will be available from January 1, 2026.

This display piece, aimed at an adult audience, has been met with almost unanimous praise since its announcement, which is increasingly rare. Forget helmets and other busts with questionable designs; LEGO has gone back to basics here, offering a true 38cm tall Iron Man figure that finally achieves its ideal scale and manages to strike an acceptable balance between detail and aesthetic shortcuts.

With fewer than 1300 pieces and a retail price that can almost be considered reasonable at €129,99, this model set should be one of LEGO's best-sellers in early 2026. This interpretation of the Mark IIII armor offers both believable proportions and a helmet far more convincing than anything LEGO has offered us so far in the form of collectible helmets or display busts. It's even noticeable that the manufacturer has made significant efforts with the gold pieces, which are properly coated and uniform.

Assembling the product isn't exactly what you'd call entertaining; there are many construction steps that are duplicated or at least mirrored, but the end result is what matters here. The order in which I'm showing you the photos below doesn't really reflect the assembly logic. You start with the character's torso, divided into two sections, then add the legs, and only at this stage do you assemble the display stand with the two feet, which are attached to the base.

There are always the inevitable scratches and molding marks often visible on the pieces. Dark RedHowever, the phenomenon is contained, and the model won't suffer too much if viewed from a distance. There are no stickers in this box; the ARC Reactor, the repulsors in the palms of the hands, the parts on the hips, and the small plate on the front of the stand are all pad-printed.

The figure's mobility remains limited but sufficient to allow it to assume a few poses emblematic of the character, particularly with its arms, which are by default positioned at different angles at the elbows. The legs are fixed, firmly anchored to the base, and there was no justification for making them movable anyway, as this model is not a Action Figure intended for children.

The inclusion of five fingers on each hand is a welcome feature, and even if the shoulder and wrist joints are a bit too visible, the overall finish is very well done from all angles. We could once again debate the more or less accurate proportions of the armor's limbs for hours on end; this is a brick-based model, which inevitably involves some compromises, and the result seems convincing enough to make the designers' choices worthwhile.

The model boasts an excellent level of finish on all sides, and the back of the armor suffers from no compromises that might betray a desire to save on plastic. Unusually, Iron Man doesn't have the somewhat goofy expression seen on the helmet or torso already on the market. The solution devised here to represent the character's helmet at this scale isn't perfect, but it's far more convincing than previous attempts. The helmet does not open.

As I mentioned earlier, the gold pieces here don't suffer from the usual problem with the uniformity of the gold coating. I didn't find any flaws on the 83 gold elements included in this set, so it seems LEGO has really worked on this to offer the best possible finish, and that's good news if this significant improvement isn't an isolated case.

The minifigure included with the armor model is entirely new in this form, from head to toe. Only the helmet has existed in this version since 2022 and has been used over the years for the Mark III, IV, VI, and VII minifigure versions of the armor. New doesn't necessarily mean exclusive; there's no guarantee at this stage that this minifigure won't one day be included in another product in the range.

Until something better comes along, this version of Iron Man is undoubtedly the best of all the partial or complete sets LEGO has created so far. It offers undeniable display potential and 360° viewing, fairly good proportions, and even the ability to pose its arms in different positions. We'll probably find this set for around a hundred euros one day; I think that will be the right price for this attractive offering.
