Today we're going to take a very quick look at the contents of the LEGO NINJAGO set. 71853 Jay's Dragon Mech Fight, a small box of 107 pieces stamped 4+ available since March 1, 2026 at a public price of €19,99.
There's obviously not much to say about this product aimed at younger children, which offers simple assemblies based on very large elements, but LEGO had sent me a copy to go with the set 71860 Lloyd's Titan Mech and it's at least an opportunity to give it away to a reader of the site.
This product bears the 4+ logo, so as usual, it's overpriced for what it offers, but it's designed to allow younger children a smooth transition from the DUPLO range to the classic LEGO universe. This product is therefore aimed at parents who might find the transition too abrupt, if any.
The highlights include the blue dragon legs, the green 4+ style mech legs, and the two figures included in this box: Jay and a mutant monster with really successful pad printing.
For those interested, the Mutation Monster is included in the sets in the same way. 71849 Nya vs. Elemental Monster Spinner (9,99 €) and 71855 Ninja Dragon Riyu's Battle (44,99 €).
The Jay minifigure included here has also made two other appearances in this form since the beginning of the year: it is available with wings in the set 71857 Ninja Vehicle Tree House Battle (€79,99) and without his mask in the set 71856 Jay's Transforming Car (49,99 €).
The two mechs have very limited mobility and a basic finish, but there's undoubtedly some playability here for younger players who will readily overlook the product's aesthetic shortcomings. Jay and the mutant monster come with their respective weapons, as do the two mechs, which is a nice bonus.
€20 for that is obviously very expensive, but you can find this set for a little less than at LEGO elsewhere:
