LEGO DC Batman The Batmobile from Batman v Superman - Toy Car - Superhero Collector Model with Minifigure - Birthday Gift Idea
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75393 TIE Fighter & X-wing Mash-up, a box of 1063 pieces currently for pre-order on the official online store and which will be available at the public price of €109,99 from August 1, 2024.
You know since the announcement of the product, this box is inspired by the animated mini-series entitled LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy the four episodes of which will be broadcast from September 13, 2024 on the Disney + platform. It is a kind of What If? in Star Wars style with an alternative reality which redefines the balance of forces present and in the process provides excessive fan service.
We therefore find here this alternative reality with the possibility of transforming the two proposed ships by giving them the wings of the other. Why not, we won't blame LEGO for putting its know-how at the service of playability and the principle at work in this set is rather well transposed in terms of construction.
Each of the two ships has a pair of wings that can be extracted very easily and then inserted into the other construction and the manipulation really only takes a few seconds. There is nothing to dismantle apart from the two rods which secure the wing blocks which are only held by a pin, it's fun for five minutes and the youngest will undoubtedly find what they're looking for.
We end up with a TIE Fighter over-equipped with engines and an the most die-hard fans call the Uglies : ships cobbled together with elements from different machines seen in certain comics published around the saga.
If we put aside this functionality of the product, we are still left with two rather well executed ships, obviously taking into account the imposed scale. The TIE Fighter and the X-wing to build in this box look good with a sufficient level of detail and foolproof solidity. They can easily make a career on the corner of a shelf while waiting for something better.
The cockpit of the TIE fighter is easily accessible to install a pilot, the wings of the . Both ships are equipped with Spring-Shooters relatively discreet which can be removed if their presence seems inappropriate to you.
An important clarification: the supports which hold the two ships in suspension visible on one of the official visuals online on the LEGO Shop as well as on the back of the product box are not provided.
The canopy of the X-Wing is pad printed just like that of the TIE Fighter but there are still a few stickers to stick on the wings of the X-wing or around the cockpit of the TIE Fighter.
Some adult fans will undoubtedly be a little disappointed by the contents of this box, but it is important not to forget that this product is primarily aimed at children. If the series makes good use of the possibility offered in this box, it is a safe bet that this set will find its audience without forcing too much.
As for the minifigs provided, we get five characters including the inevitable TIE Fighter and X-wing pilots, two characters from the series and identified as Yesi Scala and Sig Greebling as well as a garishly colored astromech droid named L3-G0 . I am not drawing you a picture about the names of the three characters who accompany the two pilots, LEGO does not hesitate here to make a few strong nods to its own universe.
We could also imagine that the astromech droid, which is a red and yellow version of R2-D2, is here advertising the McDonald's brand rather than for LEGO; the most suspicious may see this as a marketing intention. a little sneaky.
The X-wing pilot's helmet is new and matches the astromech droid that takes place in the ship. For the rest, the elements which constitute the two pilots are rather common in the LEGO Star Wars range. Yesi Scala and Sig Greebling are wearing new outfits, they are protagonists of the new animated series which serves as a reference for this product and these two characters will only exist in this context. If you exhaustively collect everything that LEGO produces in terms of minifigs around the Star Wars universe, don't miss the opportunity to add these figurines to your Ribba frames.
There is no need to dwell on this set for long, it is a derivative product of a series which has not yet been broadcast but which offers interesting fun possibilities for the youngest. We will have to wait to see if the series is a hit and if the products it inspires hit the shelves like hot cakes or if this type of box will end up in clearance during, for example, the next Black Friday.
€110 is undoubtedly a little too expensive as it stands, but there will quickly be many opportunities to pay a little less for this product elsewhere than at LEGO. Amazon is already at €104,99 without forcing, it will quickly be possible to pay for this set for less than €100:
LEGO Star Wars 75393 TIE Fighter & X-wing Mash-up
