Today we take a quick tour of the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75405 Home One Starcruiser, a box of 559 pieces available at the public price of €69,99 since January 1, 2025.
I won't repeat the whole pitch for you Starship Collection Launched by LEGO in 2024, it is a series of exhibition models in the format Midi Scale consisting of sets to date 75375 Millennium Falcon (921 pieces - 84.99 €), 75376 Tantive IV (654 pieces - 79.99 €) and 75377 Invisible Hand (557 pieces - €52.99), these three references being joined this year by the one presented here as well as by the set 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship (450 pieces - €49,99). We could add the set 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer (630 pieces - €69,99) available since 2023 and the reference 77904 Nebulon B-Frigate (459 pieces - $39,99) sold exclusively at Amazon USA in 2020.
This is therefore about assembling a reproduction of the Home One, the flagship of the Rebel Alliance fleet during the Battle of Endor also seen in the series. Star Wars: Ahsoka. On screen, this ship is mostly made up of rounded outgrowths that do not make it a machine with optimal readability as is the case for many other ships in the saga with more prominent angles. The exercise therefore seemed a little more perilous than usual for LEGO.
The LEGO version tries as best as possible to reproduce this organic design by multiplying the rounded bulges and I think that the designer does rather well considering the subject addressed and the scale which imposes constraints. In any case, it was mainly a question of taking up the overall appearance of the ship to convince, without focusing too much on the details which the format Midi Scale does not really help in this specific case anyway.
So in my opinion it is mission accomplished and the presence of a very minimalist Nebulon-B type frigate placed at the end of a transparent rod fixed under the Home One brings a little context and allows to highlight the ship by giving an idea of its volume in relation to its companion of the day.
I am less convinced by the mix of colors on the surface, I understand the need to give a little relief and texture to the whole but I would have gladly settled for a few shades of gray without falling into beige and dark red. We will salute in passing the very appropriate use of ice skates on the hull.
The good surprise of the product comes from the assembly process which requires us to install some characters inside the ship: Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla and Admiral Ackbar are here symbolized by a few pieces and we also find an A-Wing placed in the heart of the model. The presence of these very symbolic details allows us to forget a little the visual confusion which results from the assembly of the different panels which then constitute the hull of the ship. The lower section of the ship is not left to the neglect with some welcome finishing details.
The whole thing is as usual installed on a black base that knows how to be relatively discreet with the possibility of removing the gray grids to possibly add a minifig and make the whole a finished product that pays homage to the saga. The small pad-printed plate specifies as for each product in the range what it is, it will perhaps be useful here for those who would not recognize the ship at first glance. I still find the design of this plate a little crude with a LEGO logo too bulky but the collection effect is very present.
The subject matter was risky, LEGO is doing very well in my opinion by offering as a bonus an assembly process that brings some appreciable winks, there is only the public price of this product that leaves me hungry. It will therefore be necessary to wait to find this box at a slightly more reasonable price elsewhere than at LEGO or at least to take advantage of a promotional offer or a doubling of Insider points.
La Starship Collection of the LEGO Star Wars range is gradually taking shape and it is expanding this year with two new ships that are probably not the ones that collectors will put the most prominently on their shelves. But that's the lot of all collections, you need "second knives" to magnify the presence of the most beautiful pieces. While waiting for the arrival of the set 75406 Kylo Ren Shuttle (450 pieces - €49,99) that the latest rumors promise us for the second half of 2025.
