LEGO Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone – Collector's Edition - DIY Model Kit - Home Decor - Miniature Scenes from the Movie - Hedwig Minifigure - 3
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75416 Chopper (C1-10P), a box of 1039 pieces available on the official online store at the public price of €109,99.
For those who are not familiar with this little astromech droid, it is the traveling companion of Hera Syndulla, a character seen in the animated series Star Wars Rebels as well as in the series in live action Star Wars: Ahsoka. Chopper quickly became a rather popular droid among fans of this content, with his characteristic personality and antics.
On the assembly side, this box borrows some techniques from the set 75379 R2-D2 and add something to make the droid's head move a little using a small lever placed on the back of the cylinder. Why not, the integrated mechanism that allows this fantasy, and that I leave you to discover in order to get your money's worth, will entertain you for a few minutes, the rest of the construction process which spreads over two hours at best being expected.
The 22 cm tall droid also benefits from a few removable accessories that allow for a bit of variety in presentation, with two arms and a central wheel that unfortunately isn't retractable. There wasn't much room left inside the cylinder to consider a wheel storage mechanism anyway. We'll also point out the presence of a third mobile robotic arm on the front.
For the rest, Chopper can take a few poses by playing on the angle of the side legs and the rotation of the head, you will easily find the setting that suits you. Be careful, there are no wheels under the two legs, the parts placed under the feet of the droid will rub on the parquet floor. This is above all a display product, not a toy to be rolled.
As you can see in the photos below, there's no escaping a large sheet of stickers that adds a bit of finishing touch to the droid. Once again, it's a shame on a display product selling for €110, but you'll have to make do with these dozen stickers.
The droid comes with a pad-printed presentation plaque that reveals some facts technical details on the character and which gives it a bit of cachet and confirms its status as a pure exhibition product. The figurine which accompanies the droid presentation plate on the provided stand is the one already seen in 2023 in the LEGO Star Wars set 75357 Ghost & Phantom II with its cylinder pad printed on both sides.
It's hard to find fault with the proposal made here, the little droid is quite successful if we can overlook the somewhat crude side of its head and the large batch of stickers to stick on to give it a little finishing touch. The machine can proudly be displayed next to the droids from the sets 75379 R2-D2 et 75398 C-3PO appearing roughly the same size as his two companions.
As for the price, it is often a little too expensive for what the product really has to offer, we will wait until this box is available for a little less elsewhere than at LEGO or we will take advantage of the offers of the annual operation May the 4th to try to make the pill go down.
