LEGO DC Batman The Batmobile - Toy Car - Superhero Collector Model with Minifigure - Birthday Gift for Boys
Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO Star Wars set 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship, a box of 450 pieces which is currently available for pre-order on the official online store at the public price of €49,99 and which will be available from January 1, 2025.
As you probably already know, this product from the LEGO Star Wars range will join what has been called since the beginning of 2024 the Starship Collection, a series of scale models Midi Scale already composed of several proposals via the sets 75375 Millennium Falcon (921 pieces - 84.99 €), 75376 Tantive IV (654 pieces - 79.99 €) and 75377 Invisible Hand (557 pieces - €52.99). In 2025, we will be entitled to two new confirmed references, this one and the set 75405 Home One Starcruiser (559 pieces - €69,99). A third reference is circulating through the usual rumor channels, the set 75406 Kylo Ren Shuttle (450 pieces - €59,99), but it has still not been officially unveiled.
So here we are assembling a model of Acclamator in Clone Wars version and the reference ship with its rather conventional design does not allow as much creative fantasy as for example for a Venator. The LEGO version therefore seems logically a little simplistic even if it reproduces rather correctly the troop transport seen on the screen.
Despite this apparent simplicity, this product still offers a great building experience with many interesting techniques at work, all in the service of the final result. We don't spend hours on it but the assembly of this small model is very satisfying with a level of finish that is rather correct for a product at this scale.
The upper surface of the ship maintains a good balance between exposed tenons and smooth surfaces, the angles are well managed with very few empty spaces, notably between the wings and the central part of the fuselage and the greebling (the art of integrating details using small elements) often based on roller skates is very appropriate.
The lower area of the ship is not left to chance, with here too a very correct finish that allows to observe the ship from all angles without having to notice that the designer neglected this part of the model. It will even be possible to deploy the two ramps that allow to disembark the embarked troops, even if the functionality remains very anecdotal.
The black support is the one usually offered in this collection, it is sober, stable and there are even two locations with visible studs covered with grids which can possibly accommodate a minifig if you want to associate one of your characters with the ship concerned.
Visually, one might have the impression that the medium is almost oversized for what it presents, the Acclamator struggles to exist a little due to its lack of volume and the chosen scale, but it is also the subject treated which sets the rules and limits the possibilities.
There are no stickers in this box, so everything is pad printed. So much the better, it is a pure exhibition product that deserves this effort. I am still dubious about the small plate that specifies the name of the ship, I think that LEGO could have limited the size of its own logo on this element. As it is, it is a little too crude for my taste.
This well-made Acclamator does not revolutionize the range of scale ships Midi Scale that LEGO is trying to flesh out by drawing on the wide range available within the Star Wars universe, but the model will be a very good second fiddle on a shelf that highlights more iconic products like the Millennium Falcon or Tantive IV. It is necessary, any collection is above all an accumulation of products, some of which are only there to highlight the most beautiful pieces.
For some fans, the arrival of new products in this collection also raises another problem: that of the coherence of the scale between the different products that compose it. We know that it is impossible to coordinate this scale between ships with totally different proportions on the screen, so we have to make do with these models whose final volume often depends on the choice of a particular element of the model: a reactor or a canopy for example.
This product is offered at the price of €50, which is in my opinion a little expensive for a set that does not give the impression of getting something for this amount. But I am not worried, this box will sooner or later end up being available for much less elsewhere than at LEGO and my collection can wait for the presence of this Acclamator which will not be the centerpiece anyway.
Note: The product shown here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at December 24, 2024 at 23:59 pm. Just post a comment under the article to participate. Your participation is taken into account regardless of your opinion. Avoid "I'm participating" or "I'm trying my luck", we suspect that this is the case.
