Review : LEGO 5009422 Italian Market Van

Today we take a quick look at the contents of the LEGO set 5009422 Italian Market Van, a small box of 142 pieces which will be offered to members of the LEGO Insiders program on the official online store from August 7, 2025 for the purchase of a copy of the LEGO IDEAS set 21359 Italian Riviera (279,99 €).

At first glance, this promotional product is well in line with the theme of the set that it is supposed to help sell: Italian village atmosphere, vehicle inspired by the Piaggio Ape model capable of driving in narrow streets, lemon tree in the trunk, everything is there, even the driver with his coffee. On the other hand, we cannot say that the minifig provided is very original, the torso of the character is neutral and LEGO could have made an effort to improve the appearance of this Italian merchant a little.

The product is directly associated with the LEGO IDEAS set 21359 Italian Riviera, one could legitimately imagine a possibility of integrating the vehicle into the overall diorama. This is not the case, there is not really room to add this oversized tricycle in the narrow alley that runs between the houses. And even if we find the angle that allows us to place the thing, the difference in scale is in any case too obvious for the whole to be coherent.

So as not to push the envelope too much, we won't point out the fact that lemons grow upwards or that the vehicle's wheels seem ridiculously small; that would be pointlessly stressing a product that doesn't need it.

In short, if you intend to buy the LEGO IDEAS set 21359 Italian Riviera As soon as it is launched on the official online store and you are a member of the LEGO Insiders program, you will automatically receive this small promotional product which will undoubtedly be the element that was missing from the diorama.

It'll still be something, despite a reduced inventory of 142 pieces and an uninspired minifigure, the whole thing being very pretentiously valued at €19,99 by the manufacturer. But you'll have to find space elsewhere to properly display the contents of this small set.
