Every year since the launch of the LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars, LEGO has given us an exclusive minifig in festive attire. Above, the two characters in question as they were presented recently. Either they are (really) provisional versions, or they are rather ugly ...

The explanation for the choice of these two characters probably lies in the reference to Ralph McQuarrie's work on the greeting cards used by Lucasfilm in the 80s.
