Some of you may have already discovered this new product online. on the official LEGO store : This is a hard plastic case for Apple iPhone 6, 6s and 7 smartphones with a base plate glued to the back.
The case will be delivered with a little more than forty pieces, just to personalize the thing and to distort your pockets a little more.
I have received several questions relating to this new product by email rather than copy and paste to everyone who wrote to me about it, here are some useful details.
It is not LEGO that manufactures this product, it is the manufacturer Belkin, specializing in particular in accessories for smartphones, which supplies this product to LEGO. LEGO just adds the extra pieces to the box.
This case is compatible with different models with similar dimensions: iPhone 6 (138.10 x 67.00 x 6.90mm), iPhone 6s (138.30 x 67.10 x 7.10mm), and iPhone 7 (138.30 x 67.10 x 7.10mm).
However, it is not excluded that an iPhone 8 (138.40 x 67.30 x 7.30mm) could benefit from this shell despite its glass back and the 0.2mm difference in length and thickness with the iPhone 7. The placement of the photo sensor is identical between the two models and many cases are compatible with both smartphones. To test.
This case is not compatible with the iPhone 7 Plus or 8 Plus and even less with the iPhone X.
Finally, this LEGO smartphone case is not the first to be marketed. In 2013, Belkin was already selling iPhone 5 cases under the official LEGO license.
This new hull will be sold € 29.99 from March 1st. If you have the opportunity to test it with an iPhone 8, do not hesitate to confirm its possible compatibility in the comments.
