75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

Today we are interested in the LEGO Star Wars set 75258 Anakin's Podracer (279 pieces - 29.99 €), a reinterpretation, as indicated by LEGO in the official description of the product, the set 7131 Anakin's Podracer marketed in 1999.

Same collector's treatment for this box as for the other four sets of the 20th anniversary range with selective varnish on the packaging and instruction booklet with some facts about the 1999 set and the 2019 set. And 14 stickers.

A LEGO-style podracer is always a bit complicated. As the motors are only connected to the cockpit by two cables, a solution must be found so that the machine can be handled with one hand without breaking everything and LEGO has therefore chosen to place the construction on a support which is made fortunately more discreet in this new version than on the 1999 model.

75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

Once again, the reference to the Anakin's Podracer set 7131 launched in 1999 serves only as a pretext to go back 20 years in the pages of the instruction booklet, the podracer delivered here is rather a variant of the model of the set 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers marketed in 2011, a box in which LEGO had already replaced the slightly coarse sand-colored support with a set of transparent parts unfortunately connected to each other by pins that were much too visible.

As far as I'm concerned, I find both solutions equally unsightly and I would have preferred that LEGO found a way to connect the cockpit to the motors via two curved and rigid rods to provide a visually more construction. faithful to the concept of the machine. But everyone will have as usual an opinion on the subject and many will be satisfied with this transparent support which has at least the advantage of being discreet and of guaranteeing a certain playability.

75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

The horizontal strip of the transparent support bends at the rear under the weight of the cockpit, some would say this is intentional but it is mainly because the foot is centered to support the weight of the engines. The effect will not be disturbing for everyone on arrival and the others will console themselves by saying that as in the computer field, "it's not a bug, it's a featurand".

Nice work from the designer on the engines, detailed enough for a model of this scale. If we compare them with those of set 7131, the evolution is obviously obvious. It is much less obvious if we take the podracer from set 7962 as a reference. Lightning bolts of energy transfer, a simple bar on previous models, are now embodied by the part already seen in many sets, delivered here in a very apt dark pink / purple colourway.

75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

The minifig endowment here is roughly correct for a set sold € 29.99 even if Watto, Obi-Wan or even Jar-jar Binks would have been welcome, for example. We find the young Anakin in the version already present in the Microfighter set 75223 Naboo Starfighter with his torso and his head both unseen.

The detail that annoys me a little: The brown helmet delivered with Anakin has nothing to do there. This deceptively vintage choice is not a good idea, and the helmet from set 7962 with its patterns faithful to the film version seemed more appropriate to me.

Padme benefits here from a new (nice) torso and a new perfectly fitting rigid plastic hairstyle. It's pretty much true to how the character looks in the movie and the girl is also equipped with short, articulated legs without pad printing, a piece previously seen in the same color on Cho Chang and Neville Longbootom from the Harry collectible minifigure series. Potter (ref. Lego 71022).

This last detail is interesting, it helps to maintain a difference in size between Padme and Anakin without one of the two characters appearing either too big or too small.

75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

However, all is not rosy in the land of minifigures: the photo above illustrates the recurring pad printing problem encountered by LEGO when it comes to printing flesh color (Flesh) on a dark surface: on the left on the minifig of Anakin the Flesh neck is correct while on the right Padme's neck is sickly pallor ...

Luke Skywalker's collector's minifig, just as off topic as Lando Calrissian's in the set 75259 Snowspeeder, completes the assortment with its vintage look and the special 20th anniversary pad printing on the back of the character.

Only the torso of the minifig therefore becomes unique and exclusive, the helmet was already delivered in a dozen boxes of the LEGO Star Wars range and the ultra-minimalist design head already dressed Luke's minifig that accompanied the book. LEGO Star Wars The Visual Dictionary (Updated & Expanded) marketed in 2014.

75258 Anakin's Podracer (20th Anniversary)

As I told you a few days ago, LEGO has planned a black 2x4 piece to assemble the supports that allow these collectors minifigs to stand out between them. This is not an extra room ...

In the end, I find that this set lacks a bit of ambition for a birthday box. In its day, the excellent set 7962 Anakin Skywalker and Sebulba's Podracers offered two machines and the possibility of reproducing the mythical Boonta Eve Classic view in The Phantom Menace. It's similar content that I would have liked to find in a collector's box referring to a moment of the saga that has become cult for many fans. As it stands, this podracer can only be confined to collecting dust on a shelf alone and that's a shame.

THE LEGO STAR WARS SET 75258 ANAKIN'S PODRACER ON THE LEGO SHOP >>

71024 lego disney collectible minifigures series 17

We continue to discover a little more closely the different characters of the second series of Disney minifigs to collect (ref. LEGO 71024) with a zoom on the last eight minifigures which join the 10 others I was telling you about. in the first part of the test.

If Jasmine already has a very advanced career at LEGO with several sets in which this character appears in mini-doll format, this is the first version of Jafar to be produced at LEGO. Many fans will certainly be delighted to be able to add these two minifigs to their collection which already includes a version of Aladdin and the Genie, two characters delivered in the first series of Disney collectible minifigs in 2016 (ref. Lego 71012).

Jafar's minifigure is overall very successful, even if we can regret the absence of Iago, the cunning parrot while Jasmine is delivered from her pet bird. On closer inspection, we can see that LEGO has chosen to use a torso for Jafar in Dark Red on which large black areas are pad printed. Result: The black of the torso is not as deep black as the bottom of the outfit which is tinted throughout.

Jafar's headdress is perfect, it falls perfectly on the character's shoulders, also equipped with epaulettes already seen in the Ninjago range. The reflection effect on the stone that adorns the headdress is striking and the scepter, already seen in the hands of the pharaoh from series 2 of collectible minifigs does the job.
Jasmine's minifigure is also very successful, but I still note a few annoying flaws. The skin tone on the figure's torso does not match perfectly with those of the girl's arms and head, and the white areas placed on the front side of the feet are not perfectly centered. More embarrassing in my eyes, the "wig" effect already seen on Elsa and Anna with a headdress which already equips Jasmine in mini-doll version and which, even nested correctly, leaves an unsightly space at the front of the minifigure.

No junction between the sleeves and the bust of Jasmine's outfit due to technical limitations that LEGO has not resolved to date: only a limited area of the arms can be pad printed.

In a box of 60 sachets: 3 copies of Jafar and Jasmine.

71024 lego disney collectible minifigures series 24

Edna Mode and Frozone also join our collections and complete the inventory of minifigs based on the universe of the Incredibles after the figures of Mr. Incredible and Syndrome delivered in the first series of minifigs to collect Disney in 2016 (ref. Lego 71012) and the series of LEGO Juniors sets based on the second part of the saga marketed in 2018.

Edna Mode had also been the subject of an adaptation to the minifig format a little disappointing in the polybag bearing the reference 30615 offered in 2018 with the video game based on the animated film.

The character gains credibility and loyalty to his digital version with this new minifigure. The torso is more neutral, but the face of the minifigure with its glasses molded directly on the hair is really more convincing than the minifigure of the polybag 30615. Too bad the color Flesh a little too light glasses do not match perfectly with that of the head.

The Frozone minifigure was eagerly awaited by fans who had until now been content with the BrickHeadz version (ref. Lego 41613) of this character who was already shining by his absence in the three LEGO Juniors boxes sold in 2018.

The minifig is superb, it's flawless, but the relative simplicity of the character's costume will have made LEGO's job easier. If I had to pick up one detail, it would be the junction between the areas of different colors on the arms. This is approximate and LEGO still has to work on its bi-injection process to obtain a slightly clearer demarcation.

In a box of 60 sachets: 4 copies of Frozone and 3 copies for Edna Mode.

71024 lego disney collectible minifigures series 25

Jack Skellington and Sally have so far only had top honors in the LEGO BrickHeadz line of buildable figures (ref. Lego 41630). This was arguably insufficient for most fans of the animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas (The Nightmare Before Christmas).

The two characters are now making their entry into the world of minifigs with these interpretations that will probably divide fans. As with Anna and Elsa, the switch to minifig format erases all the grace of these skinny characters.

Here again, LEGO shows the full extent of its know-how by multiplying the techniques used and the result should meet the expectations of the most demanding fans. For those who are wondering, the bat-shaped bow tie is a unique piece.

The box supplied with Jack is nicely decorated and the cover is fitted. Inside, you can store the four snowflakes delivered. The white printed on the black torso does not match the slightly creamy white of the character's head but we will do with it. The arms are perfectly pad printed over the entire length of the almost flat outer area. The pattern of the pants stops at the limit from which LEGO can no longer really print in the hollow of the leg / foot junction. It's not very serious even if it helps to visually compact the character a little more.

Sally's minifigure is magnificent, there is the patchwork of fabrics that dresses the character. Two-tone injection of the limbs, perfect alignments of the different shades, printing on the forearms, everything is there. Unlike other characters' hair, Sally's hair is made of stiff plastic. As for Jack, it's up to everyone to see if the minifig format is adapted to the morphology of the character.

In a box of 60 sachets: 3 copies of Jack Skellington and Sally.

71024 lego disney collectible minifigures series 26

Finally, Hercules and Hades, two characters based on the animated film released in 1997, complete the inventory of this second series of collectible Disney minifigs. The two minifigs are very successful even if the only slightly silly look of Hades would have in my opinion gained from being a little more threatening.

Hercules is magnificent with his outfit faithful to the one seen in the animated film, his superb shield with impeccable pad printing and his blue cape with rounded edges.

I am less convinced by Hades, more precisely by the pad printing of the minifigure. The face is nicely executed but a little too comical for my taste and the junction between the gray torso and the black plinth of the figure is far from convincing with a blank stripe which visually detracts from the continuity of the outfit's pattern. More serious, the base is not wide enough to be perfectly aligned with the lower torso whose ends protrude ...

The base of the figurine, a unique piece, can be plugged into a plate or a classic piece thanks to the spaces left to slide the tenons. The blue flames that make up the character's hair are not removable and logically prevent having an alternative facial expression.

In a box of 60 sachets: 3 copies of Hercules and 4 copies of Hades.

Here's what I could tell you about these eight new minifigs from the second series of Disney characters to collect.

Overall, for this series, the results are very positive. The different characters will seduce several generations of fans of the different Disney universes and in the same series, there is something for the whole family. Like the previous one, this series of minifigs will sell without difficulty and fans are already waiting to know which characters will make up the next wave of minifigs ...

3.99 € per sachet, it is however a little too expensive for my taste and it seems to me more judicious to invest in a box of 60 sachets and to resell or share the second complete set supplied and the 24 additional sachets. By buying a box, Picsou, Riri, Fifi and Loulou come back to 12 € instead of 16 €. It's always taken ...

Note: During this second part of the test, a complete set of 18 characters (provided by LEGO) is brought into play. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before April 13, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

You know, LEGO is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range this year. The five boxes which pay homage to more or less emblematic sets dating from the different waves of products sold since 1999 under the Star Wars license were launched today and there is not a shadow of a promotional polybag in the background. 'horizon. So it's LEGO celebrating this anniversary, because as far as we are concerned, to participate in the event, you have to go to the cashier ...

Today we are interested in the set 75259 Snowspeeder (309 pieces - 39.99 €) which therefore pays homage to the version of the set according to the instruction booklet 7130 Snowspeeder launched in 1999. The design of this commemorative Snowspeeder is still closer to the machine seen in the set 75049 Snowspeeder marketed in 2014.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

The real reference to the 7130 Snowspeeder set lies above all in the turret and its snow-covered base which accompany the Snowspeeder. LEGO wants to do well in vintage, but no question of delivering a construction that is too outdated using outdated techniques and a dated aesthetic. Exit also the gray color of the original set, LEGO retains here only a few touches of gray on a white skin.

No surprises during the assembly phase: we build a classic Snowspeeder, rather successful on this scale. A few stickers to stick and you're done. Of them Spring-Shooters are hidden under the wings of the machine, it is discreet and these accessories which bring a little playability do not disfigure the construction. It is less discreet for the Stud Shooter placed at the back.

The two pilots can take place in the cockpit, the canopy of which is pad-printed. You still have to put two stickers on the side windows of Dak Ralter's combat post to finish dressing the whole thing.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

As for the characters provided, the assortment is rather correct with the essential Luke Skywalker and Dak Ralter, here accompanied by a rebel soldier.

Luke was already delivered in the set 75235 X-Wing Starfighter Trench Run (4+). The character therefore benefits here also from two faces, one of which has a raised visor, which is not the case with Dak Ralter's head, which displays the visor in place on both sides.

Dak Ralter uses the same torso / leg combination as Luke and a helmet with the usual character-specific designs and additional pad-printed detail on the sides.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

The Hoth Rebel Trooper benefits from a new torso with a very successful interpretation of the outfit seen during the Battle of Hoth and also available in sets 75239 Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack et 75241 Action Battle Echo Base Defense.

The seasoned collector no doubt owns multiple versions of these different characters already, but the assortment delivered here is logical and in theme.

The real peculiarity of the five sets marketed for the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range is also and above all the presence in each of the boxes of a vintage minifigure delivered with a small support and a pad-printed presentation plate.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

In the 75259 Snowspeeder set, Lando Calrissian takes on the role of the minifig collector. No particular relationship between this character and the content of the set, but that's how it is. The minifig is perfectly identical to that of the 10123 Cloud City set released in 2003, it's LEGO that says so in the instruction booklet.

Pad printing techniques have however evolved a little in fifteen years and we can see that the printing of the different patterns benefits from increased finesse and precision. But it's the same minifigure down to the last detail with its two-tone cape and black legs.

The display is nothing special, the pad printed plate is simply plugged into two arches. This support will be attached to the other four supplied in the different boxes with the 2x4 piece included.

The overall display formed by the assembly of the five supports is not very inspired, I would have liked to have had a flexible plastic bottom element like those provided in some LEGO Star Wars polybags with for example the faces of the actors who embody the different characters delivered here in minifig format.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

These sets are delivered in a pretty box which contains all the codes of the best collector's products with a selective varnish finish of the most beautiful effect. This very successful packaging will perhaps slow the enthusiasm of collectors when the question of opening these boxes will arise and some will prefer to keep these sets sealed, at least for now.

The good news of this set is the possibility of obtaining a vintage Lando Calrissian minifig identical to that of 2003. There is therefore no point in tracking down the original version on eBay and others, you risk anyway, on a misunderstanding of paying a high price for a 2019 minifigure with the special 20th anniversary pad printing on the back ...

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

This series of sets marketed on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars range is also an opportunity for LEGO to once again remind the actors of the secondary market that no range or minifig is really immune. of a reissue ...

39.99 € is the price of the collector's souvenir. If you don't have a Snowspeeder, you might as well take this one and if you want Lando Calrissian in a vintage version, you don't really have a choice.

Note: The set shown here, supplied by LEGO, is included as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before April 11, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.

Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.

75259 Snowspeeder (20th Anniversary)

THE LEGO STAR WARS 75259 SNOWSPEEDER SET AT THE LEGO SHOP >>

LEGO 71024 Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2

New Disney Collectible Minifig Series (Ref. 71024) Coming In Just Over One Month on the LEGO Shop and on the shelves of your favorite toy store so it's time to take a look at the 18 characters that make up this new series of bagged characters.

No question of giving you an academic presentation on the subject here or giving you a simple description of what you see in the photos, you have in any case already selected your favorites among all the characters proposed. I will therefore content myself with highlighting the qualities or the faults of these minifigs. Some of them deserve a closer look and take five minutes out of the usual wonder at Disney products, especially at € 3.99 per copy.

For the service haters, when I talk about finishing, I am well aware that no one will spend their time scrutinizing these minifigs very closely and they will end up lined up on a shelf a reasonable distance from their owner's gaze. ...

Picsou, Riri, Fifi and Loulou will find their audience among the readers of Picsou Magazine and also among all those like me who one day had in their hands a re-edition of the manual of the Juniors Castors. Scrooge's minifig is really very accomplished and it incorporates almost all of LEGO's know-how in molding and pad printing.

It is flawless for printing with an exemplary finish, even the element that allows the duck tail to be inserted between the legs and the torso and colored on three sides to be really fitting with the hips and the bottom of the character torso.

Donald's three nephews are a bit more sober with the same head and legs for the whole troop and a torso / cap set in the colors of each of the three young ducks. The torsos are neutral but it is faithful to the usual outfit of the characters. We can discuss the budget to spend to bring together the three characters: 3.99 € x 3 ...

The detail that makes the difference and that gives interest to each of these characters: the accessories provided with each of them with a slingshot (Bartman's), a torch to assemble, a copy of the Beavers manual Juniors and a compass that will also serve as an interior page.

I would have preferred to get the three fur hats that the Junior Beavers are equipped with instead of the caps. But it's very personal. No major finishing flaw to note on these three rather banal but very neat minifigs.

Recall in passing that Donald and Daisy were both delivered in the first series of Disney collectible minifigs (ref. Lego 71012) marketed in 2016.

In a box of 60 sachets: 4 copies of Picsou and 2 copies of each of the Castors Juniors.

LEGO 71024 Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2

The Mickey and Minnie minifigs are directly inspired by the animated short Steamboat Willie but are available here in a "Light" version. Exit the metallic shade of the minifigs from the LEGO Ideas set 21317 Steamboat Willie, and the minifigs are ultimately more faithful to the cartoon version.

The two big white circles on Minnie's torso are still missing and the skirt still has polka dots when she did not have any in the short film, but these two minifigs available for € 3.99 will save money for those who do not want the steamboat set 21317 sold for € 89.99. They will at least be able to boast of having the right to the helm of the boat and a lifebuoy.

The finish could have been better for these two characters. There is black ink drips under the noses of both mice and the white ink applied to the front and sides of the feet is drooling a bit in places.

No pad printing on the inside of the feet or on the back. There is also a difference in color between the white parts tinted in the mass and the pad-printed parts. A single coat on a black background is clearly not enough.

More colorful versions of these two characters were already delivered in the first set of Disney Collectible minifigs (ref. Lego 71012) marketed in 2016.

In a box of 60 sachets: 4 copies of Mickey and Minnie.

LEGO 71024 Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2

Tic et Tac are really successful and the pad printing of the torso, simple but effective, offers a beautiful fur effect with just a few strokes.

For the uninitiated, we differentiate the two characters by the color of their nose and their teeth: Tic (the serious) with the black nose and tight upper teeth, Tac (the blunderer) has a red nose and teeth discarded.

No plastic tails on these minifigs, and I think that's a shame. An insert identical to the one seen on Donald's or Scrooge's minifigs with a small molded tail making the junction with the pad printing on the back would have done the job.

For the rest, it's pretty good. There are a few ink stains which have nothing to do there in certain places of the characters' faces but it is overall very clean. The two minifigs even have the luxury of having the right to small articulated legs that allow really more dynamic poses.

Big marks related to the manufacturing process are visible on the back of the head of the two minifigs, but it is a technical constraint which is at the origin of this aesthetic defect and it is therefore difficult to blame LEGO for these somewhat unsightly traces.

In a box of 60 sachets: 4 copies of Tic et Tac.

LEGO 71024 Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 2

Elsa and Anna are now joining the world of minifigs in parallel with their already well advanced career in mini-doll format. Opinions will be divided on the adaptation of these two characters in minifig version. They probably lose some of their usual grace in passing, but I find the two minifigs very convincing all the same.

Please note, the capes are simply thrown into the bags and all the plastic parts are delivered in an additional transparent bag. Beware of the scissors a little too fast.

The two sisters are here equipped with somewhat soft rubber hair which does not fit completely over the characters' heads and which produces a somewhat comical "wig" effect. Looks like these pieces have a little sizing issue, the quilts that rest on the shoulders of the Queen of Arendelle and her little sister limiting the sag of the accessory anyway. This defect is much more visible on Anna, it is amplified by the thickness of the cape and there is still a significant space at the level of the front of the minifigure which makes the whole thing a little disappointing.

For the rest, it's quite successful with pretty pad prints on the chest and the entire outer surface of Elsa's arms. I am a little less enthusiastic about the skirt of the two minifigs, the details of Anna's are not very visible but remain faithful to the usual outfit of the girl. The provided capes do the job, Elsa's is really beautiful with its ice crystals. Two identical soft capes are provided for Anna in the bag.

In a box of 60 sachets: 4 copies of Elsa and Anna.

Here is in a few words what I could tell you about these first 10 minifigs of the second series of Disney characters to collect. The continuation in the second part of the test which arrives quickly.

Note: During this first part of the test, a first complete set of 18 characters (provided by LEGO) is brought into play. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before April 8, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.

75237 Tie Fighter Attack

Today we are interested in the LEGO Star Wars set 75237 Tie Fighter Attack (77 pieces - 19.99 €), a small box stamped "4+" intended for the youngest fans who have not yet fully mastered all the techniques of the range System.

As is always the case with these boxes or those of the defunct range Juniors, LEGO therefore provides some (very) large pieces that simplify the assembly of the content. Here, the Tie Fighter therefore comes down to a few parts to be attached to the skeleton of the ship made up of large elements.

If we take into account that this range favors the simplicity of assembly to the fidelity of the model, we can still consider that the Tie Fighter is rather successful and the ship has not become a simple microfighter plush than usual as is the case with other models in the 4+ range.

75237 Tie Fighter Attack

It is quickly assembled, there is not really much to have fun as it is for lack of opposition to the Tie Fighter and it will be necessary to go back to the cash register to afford the complementary set, the reference 75247 A-Wing Starfighter which we have already talked about.

Due to the extreme simplification of the assembly process, the two wings only hold in place via a double Technic pin and are therefore not firmly attached to the cockpit. They don't come off unexpectedly, but they do move a bit. Nothing serious. As usual, no machine launcher on the ship, probably to avoid domestic accidents between young fans and it will be necessary to do pew pew.

For the form, LEGO adds here a mini control station vaguely inspired by the base of Yavin, not enough to cry genius even if as usual everything is pad printed in this small box. The transparent screen that displays the Death Star is new for now. It will likely reappear in a future set in the LEGO Star Wars range.

75237 Tie Fighter Attack

As for the minifigs provided in this small box, the Tie Fighter Pilot is neither new nor exclusive, it is the one delivered in the sets 75154 Tie Striker (2016) et 75161 Tie Striker Microfighter (2017)

The Rebel Trooper is however for the moment exclusive to this box thanks to a torso and a face both new. The torso delivered here is a successful and more detailed evolution of the piece that until now dressed the Rebel Fleet Troopers already available in several sets already on the market.

Be careful with the helmet of this Rebel Trooper which has an annoying tendency to come off the head during handling. The Clutch Power of the room seems a little weak.

75237 Tie Fighter Attack

In short, this third set of the 4+ variation of products in the LEGO Star Wars range is undoubtedly the most successful of the three boxes offered at the start of the year despite the simplification of the model to build. I don't know what the MOCeurs will be able to do with the big piece that serves as the base for the cockpit or the two hexagonal black plates used for the wings, but they already know.

€ 19.99 is probably a little expensive, but Amazon will quickly take care of slashing the price of this small set, so that collectors can build up a squad of new Rebel Fleet Troopers at a lower cost.

Note: The set shown here, supplied by LEGO, is included as usual. To participate in the raffle, simply post a comment on this article before April 7, 2019 at 23:59 p.m.. You have every right to disagree with me, this is not eliminatory.
