76190 lego marvel iron man iron monger mayhem 9

Today we quickly tour the LEGO Marvel set 76190 Iron Man: Iron Monger Mayhem, a box of 479 pieces sold at the public price of 39.99 € directly inspired by the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man, released in 2008.

The set features Iron Monger, the armor of Obadiah Stane, and in principle allows to reproduce the confrontation that takes place between the first villain of the MCU and Tony Stark, all under the eyes of Pepper Potts. Those who remember the film will have noticed that nothing is to scale in this box: Iron Monger is way too tall, Obadiah Stane swims in his cockpit and the Iron man minifigure looks pale against the mech. The designer will undoubtedly have wanted to be able to afford an acceptable level of detail and the armor inevitably took volume in the process. I prefer this approach to the one which would have imposed on us a rickety mech and too little detailed to convince.

The result is therefore rather satisfactory if we forget the notion of scale between the minifigs and the armor of nearly twenty centimeters high. Access to the Iron Monger cockpit is on the other hand a little less faithful to the version seen on the screen: The front face of the torso remains fixed and you have to lift the helmet to install Obadiah Stane at the controls behind a pad-printed mask. which does not completely close the cockpit.

76190 lego marvel iron man iron monger mayhem 4

76190 lego marvel iron man iron monger mayhem 8

For the rest, the armor has all the attributes seen on screen, back jacks and weaponry included. The Gatling present on the right hand of the mech is here rather well reproduced, the missile launcher placed on the left hand is summarized in a system of ejection of parts which is in my opinion a little sketchy.

Too bad once again for the few blue pins and other red axes visible from certain angles, LEGO could make an effort on this point. We will still welcome the back of the relatively well finished mech and the integration of a phosphorescent piece decked out with a sticker on the chest, the effect is visually successful.

The big problem with the armor: the really very (too) limited mobility of the arms and legs which only allows a few vague poses without allowing a range of movements worthy of a LEGO product. The Ball Seals do their job but the various moving parts quickly come to a stop. Other LEGO mechs do much better in terms of mobility and we have a bit of the impression that this aspect has been deliberately sacrificed in favor of the finish of the limbs with the aim of offering an exhibition model more than a toy. for children.

76190 lego marvel iron man iron monger mayhem 13

On the side of the three minifigs delivered in this box, there is something to please collectors fans of the first phase of the MCU: We get Obadia Stane, Iron Man in Mark III version and Pepper Potts.

The Mark III armor worn here by Tony Stark signals the return of the two-piece helmet, an element replaced since last year by a one-piece version that is not really unanimous among fans. This armor is exclusive to this box and it will undoubtedly remain so for a long time, those who waited to complete the assortment of armor seen in the 2008 film to fill the alcoves of their Hall of Armour will therefore hardly be able to ignore this minifigure. The armor is really faithful to the version of the film down to the smallest detail and we will note the presence of the two pad-printed rivets on the upper area of the helmet, it is very successful.

Obadiah Stane's minifigure is generally representative of the character played on the screen by Jeff Bridges, everyone remembers a big bald and bearded guy in a suit. She takes the torso of Tic seen in the set 71044 Disney Train and Station, the element being identical but delivered under a new reference in this box due to the presence of flesh-colored hands. Nothing to say about the face of the minifigure, it is rather faithful and the graphic designer gave himself to their heart's content in terms of the details of the beard. The character's outfit is not the one used during the Stane vs. Stark showdown, and the channel is off topic. We will do with it.

Pepper Potts benefits from a torso that embodies the suit top seen on screen rather well, but LEGO skips the skirt that goes with it and is content to provide a neutral pair of legs. The character's head is also that of Hermione Granger (Harry Potter), by Yelena Belova (Black Widow) and Carina (Pirates of the Caribbean).

76190 lego marvel iron man iron monger mayhem 12

Upon arrival, I'm one of those happy to finally see Iron Monger make it to the LEGO catalog, even if you have to accept the trade-offs on scale and build mobility. We were treated to a slew of more or less interesting and sometimes irrelevant mechs in the Marvel range, it was about time this one was available.

Obadiah Stane's minifigure is also welcome although it would have deserved an effort on the outfit to be truly faithful to the movie and a new take on Pepper Potts is always good to go. New armor in a LEGO version for Tony Stark too. For 39.99 € at LEGO ou 35.99 € right now at AmazonSo there's no good reason to skip a set that celebrates the MCU's first villain and which I think does quite well.

76191 lego marvel avengers infinity gauntlet 5

Today we are talking about the LEGO Marvel set 76191 Infinity Gauntlet (590 pieces - 79.99 €), a product about which almost everything has already been said but which I wanted to test by integrating a kit of LEDs.

Manufacturers of lighting kits for LEGO products are struggling right now in what is likely to be a very buoyant market and kits can be found for almost every popular set, even those that don't really need to be disguised as Christmas tree.

The Infinity Glove in LEGO version seems to me to be a model that can benefit from the integration of some light diodes and it is the manufacturer LeLightGo who was the only one to agree to send me free of charge the kit corresponding to the product to test the thing and ultimately offer it to a reader.

I haven't changed my mind since the first visuals of the product were released: I remain convinced that this Infinity Gauntlet is not the ultimate mockup of Thanos' accessory. The construction looks in my opinion more like a hand than the bulky glove worn on the screen by the character and it is the price of the product that saves the furniture. We find this box regularly around 60 € and at this price we obviously immediately become more indulgent.

76191 lego marvel avengers infinity gauntlet 6

The presentation base is identical to that of the helmets, heads and other masks marketed by LEGO in the Marvel, DC Comics or Star Wars ranges and we therefore find at the foot of the construction a small presentation plate which confirms that it is act well of the famous glove. An internal structure with a few hooks, sub-assemblies that snap onto the four sides, a few fingers and a lot of parts in Metallic Gold, the inventory of 590 pieces including a little more than 150 gilded elements is very quickly assembled.

Fingers with articulated phalanges can be easily positioned to replicate the Snap, tighten the fist, make a middle finger, etc ... The thumb is also very mobile but it is a little less well integrated in the hand than the rest of the fingers. There are also a few empty spaces here and there and some of the elements in Metallic Gold are scratched out of the box or not completely covered with the glossy tint in the corners, but the finish seems to me very correct overall. Upon arrival, the whole thing frankly looks more like a well-fitting musketeer glove than Thanos' glove, but as I said above, the retail price of the product pushes the pill and everyone looks satisfied. .

The six translucent Infinity Stones are present on the surface of the glove but the whole is a little bland. Adding a few LEDs seemed to me to be able to give a little oomph to this exhibition model and I must admit that I was quite amazed by the result obtained.

Let's face it, the different brands that market these kits all sell exactly the same thing and fight among themselves to be the first to offer a version adapted to the new products just released. So do not be too careful about the integration solutions of LEDs and concealment of cables imagined by these signs, it is often tinkered with speed and it will be necessary to make a big effort to succeed in installing an LED kit without disfiguring. the product that receives the lighting.

76191 lego marvel avengers infinity gauntlet 15

76191 lego marvel avengers infinity gauntlet 14

The kit I received is sold for 21.99 €, it is delivered in a small plastic box with the various elements carefully packed in individual bags and the manufacturer offers the download of a summary but sufficient instruction file to proceed with the integration. These instructions actually boil down to a few photos of the different steps in installing the kit, it's visual and easy to follow.

In this specific case, it is not necessary to modify the model, all the original elements are kept in their place and you just have to force a little to reattach the various parts on the cable which passes under. The LEDs are microscopic and flat enough to slip under the parts, the integration problem comes exclusively from the cables.

If the different manufacturers took the trouble to take an interest in the products for which they develop kits, tinting the cables according to the dominant color of the product or the area that receives the LED to improve their discretion could be interesting.

The installation process quickly becomes a bit annoying, but with patience you can run the cables under or between the parts to connect them to the hub hidden under the back of the glove. We install an LED per Infinity Stone and a strip under the back, the latter will then take care of projecting a little light downwards.

We finally plug in the Battery Box equipped with an ON / OFF button by connecting it to the USB connector which protrudes from the hub, we add three AAA batteries and let's go. The result obtained seems very satisfactory to me and this Infinity Glove immediately becomes sexier thanks to the few LEDs installed under the six stones.

It will also be necessary to find how to hide the cable which connects the hub to the Battery Box or hide the latter in the back of the glove, but for 22 €, I do not really see what to criticize this kit. Out of curiosity, I ordered a kit for the same set from another "manufacturer" whose name I will not mention, I just paid twice the retail price of the product shipped by LeLightGo in order to end up with exactly the same LEDs and accessories. My advice: compare and just go for the cheapest, these are not space research products that took years of development and everyone is selling you the same. Even at 22 € the kit, the seller releases a very comfortable margin ...

Note that you can currently get 20% reduction on the entire online store of the brand LeLightGo with the code HOTHBRICKS to enter in the basket before confirming the order.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 29

Today we quickly tour the LEGO Harry Potter set 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collector's Edition, a large box of 3010 pieces stamped 18+ which will be available at the public price of € 249.99 from September 2nd.

It is a question here of assembling an exhibition model all in the glory of the Harry Potter universe and the object is rather intended to enthroned prominently on a shelf to impress your friends who are fans of the saga even if you can always "have fun" with the glasses and the wand. The designer has chosen a few emblematic references from the universe concerned and brought out a nice display on which we find the owl Hedwig who comes to bring the letter of admission to Hogwarts.

One may wonder why LEGO insists with the white owl when a set featuring the bird is still on the shelves. The purpose here is not the same as in the set 75979 Hedwig sold for around fifty euros: the ultra-simplified model whose wings are set in motion via a crank is also an exhibition product, but the emphasis is mainly on the functionality offered. This new version of Hedwig, more organic and more detailed, does not "fly", it is a purely decorative model.

All the elements of the model, 50 cm wide, 44 cm high and 33 cm deep, are grafted onto an internal structure based on Technic beams which guarantees maximum rigidity to the construction. Everything else is installed more or less in trompe-l'oeil around this frame. Tom Riddle's (Tom Riddle) journal is laid open at the foot of the construction, it is in fact more suggested than anything else in the absence of the characteristic cover of the object and it mainly serves as a wide and stable base for the building. model.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 11 1

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 10 1

Two books, one in the colors of Ravenclaw and the other in the colors of Gryffindor, then slip into the structure, we add the potions container bearing the initials of Hermione Granger with its different vials, we install Hedwig and then refine the staging with the various accessories provided. On arrival, the visual effect is really successful with the impression that one could almost grab one or the other of the books to move them or open them.

I would have gladly replaced the owl with a reproduction of the Sorting Hat (Sorting Hat) at the top of the construction, there was undoubtedly material to offer an element sufficiently textured and shaded to give character to the overall model and remain in the theme of the entrance to the sorcerer's school. That being said, Hedwig is truly impressive and I have no recollection of having seen such a compelling animal out of LEGO bricks.

The owl has a real allure and the very organic finish of the construction gives a lot of character to this model, which is also made up of very classic objects. the ball seals grays that serve to connect the thick plumage to the owl's body are relatively inconspicuous and it's hard to find fault with this part of the set. Hedwig's head can be oriented so that the owl is constantly staring at you regardless of the exposure angle of the model.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 14

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 6 1

Harry Potter's wand then clips onto the pages of Tom Riddle's diary via a Ball joint, the pretty chocolate frog could possibly be installed astride the few studs of the cover and it will be necessary to find a place for the glasses. The minifig display remains flying, you put it where you want.

I am not convinced by the cubic design of the baguette, there was necessarily a way to do otherwise with circular elements of different diameters to obtain something rounder and more faithful. The glasses do not have lenses but they are on the other hand quite successful. They can be worn by an adult, you do what you want during your themed evenings.

Difficult to offer a product that pays homage to the Harry Potter universe without adding one or more scarves representing the different houses. The clothing accessory is therefore present here but it is summed up in its simplest expression with a few fringes with visible tenons which protrude vaguely from the base of the construction. A few Tiles would have been welcome to smooth out what looks more like a cone of fries than a scarf on the Gryffindor version (Gryffindor).

Each of the houses having at least one color in common with another, the designer just asked us to replace the other color to get a nod to your favorite house: Gryffindor shares yellow with Hufflepuff (Hufflepuff) , Slytherin (Slytherin) shares gray with Ravenclaw (Ravenclaw). The solution devised to not disappoint anyone and allow relative customization of the model is interesting but the finish of this element remains in my opinion very disappointing.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 21

The Snitch (Golden snitch) is well designed, the representation of the object is faithful. It is once again the various "golden" or metallic shades which sabotage the visual aspect of the thing a little and we note that the official visuals have been heavily retouched to hide the reality. The ball is attached to the central axis of the construction via a black axis which could undoubtedly have been a transparent rod much more discreet ...

The five vials of ingredients for potions are superb, the different stickers to stick on these elements have a lot to do with it. The four bottles owe their very successful design to the transparent element that ensures the junction between the body of the flask and the neck, they must then be filled with loose pieces to obtain the effect imagined by the designer. The vial of Liquid Chance (Felix felicis) is phosphorescent, you will see it in the dark and avoid knocking over the construction by going too close to the shelf.

We have already talked about the letter of admission and the spelling mistake present on Hogwarts motto. The document is divided into three pad printed parts that reproduce the folds of a real sheet of paper. The letter is presented on letterhead with the logo and footer in black and the text in green. LEGO tries to offer a personalization of the document, leaving the possibility for everyone to write their name at the top of the letter, but it fails.

We had to leave free space between the word Dear and the comma without adding a series of points: it will be necessary to write on these points and the rendering will necessarily be a little messy. It's also up to you to find the green felt whose color will match that of the text, LEGO could have contented itself with offering the entire letter in black to facilitate the addition of the name of the proud owner of the set.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 31

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 25

After spending a few days with this product, I think there is a solution missing to allow the model to rotate on itself to really take advantage of Hermione's potions bin, hidden by the admission letter when the model is face-on. . As it is, you have to grasp the whole by the edges of the open newspaper or by the central axis to turn the model over and take advantage of the pretty vials.

You know, this set adds three new minifigs to the collection of "golden" figurines launched this year on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the range. Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid therefore join the six minifigs already available in the sets. 76386 Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake (Harry Potter), 76387 Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter (Hermione Granger) 76388 Hogsmeade Village Visit (Ron Weasley) 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets (Flight of death), 76392 Hogwarts Wizard's Chess (Severus Snape) and 76395 Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson (Professor Quirinus Quirrell).

I am not impressed with these three new figures which are not really "golden". The heavily retouched official visuals are a bit pretentious and the reality is less flattering with a somewhat "cheap" looking matte plastic whose color is not perfectly matched between the elements of the figurines and their accessories, ruining a bit the monochrome effect. Those who already have the other six minifigs with commemorative pad printing on the back will have the possibility here of installing them on the display thanks to the two supplied extensions.

It is well seen and well executed but it may be missing elements indicating the names of the different characters as is the case for Albus Dumbledore and enough to assemble at least two additional niches in the shape of a chocolate frog card to visually balance the rendered. The Tile placed just under the construction in the center of the support is pad printed. Was it absolutely necessary to add the LEGO logo, I'm not sure and the mention "Harry Potter" would have been enough for me.

76391 lego harry potter hogwarts icons collectors edition 17

There is no doubt to be had, this product will seduce a large majority of fans of the Harry Potter universe, beyond LEGO enthusiasts, by its exhibition potential as well as by the "non-exhaustive but rather global tribute" aspect. "to their favorite universe. This is not a toy, there are already a lot of playsets in the range and a nice model that aims to reach a wider audience than that usually targeted by LEGO products does not hurt.

The assembly experience is also punctuated by a few pages detailing the context of the different elements of the set, just to refresh the memory of adult fans who love the Harry Potter universe but who are not necessarily in front of their TV at each of the multiple reruns of films or that do not reread all the volumes of the saga at least once a year.

If LEGO ever marketed a similar product inspired by the Star Wars universe with, for example, a big pilot's helmet, a lightsaber handle and Han Solo's DL-44 blaster, I think many of us would be delighted to have the right to something other than pieces of walls or vessels.

The subject that annoys a little: the public price of the product set at 249.99 €. Those used to classic LEGO toys will undoubtedly find this product far too expensive for what it has to offer apart from its decorative potential. If so, then this set is not for them. LEGO hopes to reach here an audience of fans who don't necessarily want to bother with a modular Hogwarts that takes up half of the living room and I think this nice "lifestyle" derivative with an overall convincing finish should find its audience very easily.

Note: The set presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at August 28, 2021 next at 23pm.

42126 lego technic ford f150 raptor 19

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO Technic set 42126 Ford F-150 Raptor, a box of 1379 pieces which will be available at the public price of 139.99 € from October 1, 2021.

This set is stamped with the mention 18+, but in my opinion nothing justifies this classification which seems arbitrary to me and which undoubtedly aims to simply segment the Technic range to extract products considered as "adults".

The treated subject, a utility vehicle among the best-selling models on the other side of the Atlantic, the version offered here is not sold in Europe except to a few specialized importers, can possibly also explain this classification: this derivative product under official Ford license. 'address also to Ford F-150 owners who would like to afford a toy reproducing their own vehicle or to fans of large 4x4s who do not necessarily have the means to afford the real one.

LEGO has chosen to decline this Ford F-150 Raptor 42 centimeters long by 18 centimeters wide with an orange body, it is not the color that I will have chosen. A little tour on the configurator manufacturer shows that the Ford Raptor is offered in a wide range of colors including Duck Red which turns more red than orange used already seen in the set 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (2017) or on the Corvette from set 42093 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (2019).

The "model" to assemble offers the minimum of what a set of the LEGO Technic range usually offers in terms of functionality: steering connected to the front wheels with remote control on the roof of the vehicle, V6 engine with moving pistons via the integrated differential to the rear axle, front and rear suspensions and possibility of opening the doors, the tailgate and the engine hood.

42126 lego technic ford f150 raptor 4

42126 lego technic ford f150 raptor 3

We may regret that the steering is not connected to the steering wheel of the vehicle and that this Ford F-150 in LEGO version is not a four-wheel drive machine like the real one, the setting in motion of the engine being managed only by the 'rear axle, connected to the chassis by a Ball joint which gives it all its mobility on rough terrain. The wheel placed on the roof can be removed so as not to penalize the aesthetics of this exhibition product, it is always taken even if the part which then remains visible in the middle of the orange surface is ... red.

Thinking about it, we could almost conclude that this is a pure product of initiation into the LEGO Technic universe for adults more accustomed to building flowers, vehicles in the format System or monuments.

We can not escape a huge sheet of stickers to stick on the vehicle and only the two rear fenders stamped with the words "Raptor"are pad printed. Too bad for the grille and the headlights of this Ford F-150 which are satisfied with a few stickers. The challenge is complicated a little more at the level of the rear headlights with three stickers to be aligned between them to obtain an acceptable rendering. designer could have made the effort to offer headlights based on elements especially on an exhibition model intended for an adult audience and which therefore does not have the primary purpose of ending up in a toy bin.

The finish of the product is correct if we admit that the LEGO Technic range is generally satisfied with visible blue or gray pines regardless of the dominant color of the product, spaces a little empty in various places of the body and aesthetic shortcuts. Those who swear by this range keep repeating that the priority is functionality but they may be a little disappointed here, it is minimum service for a product in this price bracket.

If we were to really compare the LEGO version to the benchmark vehicle, there isn't much left of the "real" Raptor here anyway, other than the fender flares and the patterns on the stickers. From certain angles, the vehicle is however an illusion even if the junction between the front fenders and the headlights is only suggested by an empty space and the doors seem to me a little too short with the consequence of a connection with the side steps which leaves frankly glimpse the mechanics of the chassis.

42126 lego technic ford f150 raptor 8

42126 lego technic ford f150 raptor 6

It also looks like a few parts are missing at the junction between the fenders and the cabin and the interior of the cabin, yet easily visible and accessible through the opening of the doors, is summed up in its simplest form. There are still two stickers to represent the different dials and the central screen but no Ford logo on the steering wheel which remains in visible tenons.

Upon arrival, I have the impression that LEGO is content here to provide a promotional product all in the glory of the Ford brand and its F-150 Raptor without forcing too much on what usually makes the interest of the Technic universe. This Raptor of 1379 pieces (including more than 600 pins) at 140 € does not offer much more than many other products in the soft underbelly of the range sold much cheaper and it will be appropriate in my opinion to wait for the set be sold at knockdown prices by other brands to get really value for their money.

The assembly of the product is within the reach of all and does not require particular affinities with the LEGO Technic universe, do not deprive a young fan of this box under the pretext that it is presented as a product for adults. The most demanding step is still to correctly paste the half-dozen stickers symbolizing the rear headlights ...

Please note, the large instruction booklet and the sheet of stickers are thrown in the box without protection, at least on the copy I received. Remember to check that nothing is wrinkled or damaged upon receipt even if you plan to assemble the product later.

10/08/2021 - 14:29 In my opinion... LEGO ICONS Reviews

lego 10290 pickup truck 15 1

Today we quickly tour the LEGO set 10290 Pickup Truck, a box of 1677 pieces which will be marketed at the public price of 119.99 € from October 1st. LEGO offers us here to assemble a vintage pickup vaguely inspired by the Ford F100 but which the designer presents as a version mixing the characteristic attributes of different utility vans produced in the 1950s such as the Chevrolet 3100 or the GMC 100.

Even if some fans would certainly have appreciated having to build a vehicle of an existing brand, the lack of a license on this product is in my opinion not a bad thing, it probably saves us around forty dollars. euros on the public price of the product and the whole remains visually sufficiently associated with the period concerned to convince.

In order not to deliver us a vehicle alone without a particular context, LEGO puts this pickup on stage by presenting it as the utility of an American farmer who would go to the local market to market his production. It is a good idea, the various small constructions which accompany the van are varied and and allow to fill the dumpster.

lego 10290 pickup truck 19

These accessories are inspired by the four seasons of the year with spring flowers, summer vegetables, fall pumpkins and even a festive winter wreath that can be attached to the front of the hood. The designer did not just throw a few vegetables in a crate, he also had to assemble a watering can, a jug of milk and a wheelbarrow, all three very well designed and with interesting decorative potential.

The assembly of the pickup, about thirty centimeters long by 14 centimeters wide, begins with a frame made up of a few Frames and Technic beams which will later receive the engine and the various mechanical and bodywork components. In passing, a steering system is integrated into the front axle which can be manipulated via the steering wheel of the vehicle. No offset of the function via an HOG on the roof of the vehicle, so much the better for the overall aesthetics of the model.

It is at this stage of the assembly that a problem arises: the set mixes the parts in Dark Red present for years in the LEGO catalog and elements delivered in what is called the color New Dark Red which are of a slightly lighter shade and which are especially thinner, sometimes up to transparency. The difference in color is not obvious depending on the lighting, but it is clearly visible from certain angles. Skillfully retouched official visuals often hide this detail.

In profile, we can even distinguish the tenons present under the Tiles, in particular those which adorn the doors of the vehicle. Again, it's also a question of lighting and when the vehicle is put on a shelf, these flaws fade a bit.

Even more annoying, the scratches on parts with the same scratch in exactly the same place on some batches of identical items. It is therefore clearly a degradation of the surface directly linked to the production process, it is a bit of a shame on a product with a monochrome body intended for exhibition.

lego 10290 pickup truck 10

lego 10290 pickup truck 13

At LEGO, it is often a question of complicating things to arrive at a result, which it would undoubtedly be possible to obtain more simply, by adding in the process a little spice to the process of construction. The techniques used here are therefore often interesting even if the price to pay is a certain fragility of certain sub-assemblies and a sometimes somewhat complicated adjustment of certain portions of the bodywork.

Align, push in but not too much, shift just a little, for example, it will be necessary to find the perfect position of the fenders whose two-part wheel arch is simply clipped so that the rendering is almost perfect. I threw in the towel quickly, the movements of the vehicle requiring to go back to the file almost every time and the alignment of the Tiles 1x1 having the gift of annoying me quickly.

The bonnet, with its two Porsche 911 wings here delivered in Dark Red that do their finishing job perfectly, lifts up and can be held in the open position to take a look at the vehicle's engine. No moving parts on this engine which remains very detailed with its belt (a white elastic) and its metallic air filter cover.

Only the dashboard, the "embossed" LEGO logo on the rear panel of the dumpster and the part marked V8 on the grille are pad printed. For everything else, the vehicle uses stickers: the side pillars of the windshield, the two license plates, the landscape in the rearview mirror and the farm logo on the doors. These last stickers do not overlap two pieces as the official visuals might suggest (see photo below).

The two guardrails of the body are removable and allow the pickup to be exposed in a more sober and less "utilitarian" version if the need arises. We feel that the designer has really made the effort to perfect the finishes of the vehicle to offer an aesthetically very successful product that does not ignore functionality.

lego 10290 pickup truck 12

lego 10290 pickup truck 11

The doors mounted on a Technic pin associated with a rubber insert open and close without forcing and they do not open inadvertently, the front cover is held in the open position thanks to the manually deployable rod, access to the The tipper is facilitated by the opening of the rear panel and the cab roof can easily be removed to take advantage of the driving position with its bench seat, dashboard, gear lever and brake pedal.

The wheels with their white rims and metallic hubcaps really contribute to the vintage finish of the vehicle, that's perfect. I am a little less convinced by the large mirrors, with their simple Dish en metallic Silver but it is a detail.

In the end, I think this pickup deserves your full attention if you are a fan of vehicles in LEGO version, even if it is an unlicensed model loosely inspired by the utilities that circulated on the roads of Texas in the 50s. The lack of a precise reference to a brand also prevents us from comparing it with the original and that's not bad when we know that LEGO sometimes has trouble reproducing certain existing vehicles.

The public price of the set fixed at 119.99 € seems reasonable to me for what this box has to offer, the pickup is very pleasant to assemble, it offers some appreciable features and the accessories that accompany it create an appreciable context. There are still some technical issues that LEGO seems to always have a hard time resolving, such as color differences or scratches, you will have to deal with and contact customer service to get a replacement for items that you think are really too damaged.

Note: The set presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at August 24, 2021 next at 23pm. For newcomers, know that you just need to post a comment to participate in the draw.

Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.
