And here is the existential question of the day (or the night): bigfig, nickname given to minifigures larger than classic minifigs, is it still a part that can be likened to a LEGO minifig?
Is it absolutely necessary to try to keep a reasonable scale ratio between the characters who are in their usual representation of an extraordinary size and those who can be placed in the "human" category embodied by the minifigs?
I'm only talking about the Super Heroes range here, that's what we're all here for .... LEGO has already offered a few bigfigs in the Star Wars ranges (Rancor, Wampa), Lord of the Rings / The Hobbit (Cave Troll, Goblin King), Legends of Chima (Mungus) or Castle (Giant troll), Power Miners and even Rock Raiders.
I'm sure you have an opinion on the subject. As far as I'm concerned, bigfigs are always welcome: The bigfig by Hulk in the sets 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout (2012) et 76018 Hulk Lab Smash (2014) is an excellent example of the interest of an oversized minifigure especially when compared to the somewhat ridiculous minifig version of the character that LEGO offered us in a polybag (5000022) in May 2012.
This figurine format allows in my opinion to maintain a roughly consistent scale ratio between several characters with different physical characteristics. Even if this scale is often wrong, the difference in format is enough for the most imposing characters to become "believable".
LEGO has so far been rather shy about the subject and the Hulk has only been joined this year by another bigfig delivered in the Marvel set 76016 Spider-Helicopter Rescue : Green Goblin.
In 2015, two DC Comics figurines will be added to this gallery of imposing characters: Darkseid in the set 76028 Darkseid Invasion and Gorilla Grodd in the set 76026 Gorilla Grodd Goes Bananas.
How do you perceive these figurines which no longer really have the attributes of classic minifigs?
