We can say that things are currently stuck in the Box by subscription ... And yet, some are still trying their luck in this fashionable and obviously very profitable niche for those who survive beyond a few months. The principle is simple, you pay a monthly subscription, and the editor of the Box in question delivers to you every month a small box containing some more or less interesting goodies.

Everything is simply based on the effect of surprise, the adrenaline rush during the discovery of the contents of the box given by your postman, the promise of an unprecedented fun experience and constantly (monthly) renewed ... In short, it 's is the bakery surprise bag effect. Nothing more.

Never expect value for your money, publishers don't do it for fun: You have to be naïve to believe that they are not making a margin on the price of the subscription. There is therefore no point in accumulating the theoretical public prices of the products delivered to judge the profitability of the thing: You will always be the loser, especially when you deliver stickers of no interest, samples obtained for free or a poor quality t-shirt. with any pattern ...

The small world of LEGO, and more broadly of building bricks, is no exception to this trend: BrickLoot, Brick Swag or even BrickPak are already trying to convince LEGO fans to subscribe. On arrival, these boxes are mostly full of derivative products sometimes vaguely associated with the LEGO brand. Few real LEGO bricks, a few polybags, a lot of paper (stickers, flyers, etc ...) and a lot of unnecessary stuff that honestly only deserves to end up in the trash.

A new kid has just arrived in this niche: BrickBox.me. For 34.98 € per month including 9.99 € for shipping, we are promised as usual a "fantastic experience", real LEGO bricks, and inevitably some compatible LEGO bricks (much cheaper to buy).

The editor of this news Box, which delivers to many European countries including France, sent me the October 2016 newsletter to analyze its content. So I decided to put my preconceived ideas aside and try to play the game.

First good surprise, there are only real LEGO products. No clones, no fake coins, no fakes in this Box October whose main theme is Star Wars.

Say goodbye to the questionable LEGO brick-shaped candies seen in previous months' mailings. Their origin and the manufacturing processes used were not indicated on the packaging. So much the better.

Here, only LEGO: A Microfighters set 75125 Resistance X-Wing Fighter, the polybag 30240 Z-95 Headhunter released in 2013, the polybag 30272 A-Wing Starfighter released in 2015, an (original) minifigure ofAdmiral Ackbar seen in sets 7754 Home One My Calamari Star Cruiser (2009) and 75003 A-Wing Starfighter (2013), a brick separator and an Mini Box 4 black.

It's pretty good especially when compared with what other publishers are offering positioned on the same niche. The simple fact of integrating only official LEGO products makes the difference in any case.

That being said, if you're looking to get an absolute "bargain" by subscribing to these Box, drop it, that's not the point as I wrote above.

On the price side, it's more complicated: The cost of the subscription is decreasing depending on whether you subscribe to the month (24.99 €), to the quarter (23.50 € per month), to the semester (22.99 € per month) or year round (21.50 € per month), but il will need to add 9.99 € delivery costs by Box. The bill is therefore steep on arrival.

And remember that nothing guarantees that the content of each Box monthly will be the same barrel as that "tested" here. You therefore expose yourself to some potential disappointments at a high price.

If you have 35 € to spend every month to surprise your children, you can also buy them a LEGO set (many references are available for less than 30 €) and pay them an ice cream with what is left.

If you still want to try the adventure with BrickBox.me, you can use the code 10% HOTHBRICKS to get a 10% discount on your subscription. I am not paid / compensated / bribed to get you to subscribe. If you take the plunge, do not hesitate to come and tell us about the content of the Box to come up...

Note: We do as usual. You have until October 31, 2016 at 23:59 p.m.
