We had imagined a whole host of possibilities, but I must admit that the brave Darth Maul, so silent and enigmatic in Episode I: The Phantom Menace , returns with a touch of...madness. Gone is the character of pure power and mystery; here is the new Darth Maul, somewhat disturbed and tormented, who returns in episode 21 (Brothers) of season 4 of the animated series The Clone Wars.
In episode 22 (Season Finale - Revenge) of season 4, Darth Maul regains his athleticism and agility, which he will need to confront you-know-who... Of course, we won't reveal the plot of these two episodes here. ( Both episodes aired on March 14, 2012 on W9, as Vincent SW points out in the comments ).
I just wanted to point out that Darth Maul is back in service after a little slump before coming back in great shape and with beautiful metal legs made of odds and ends. What to hope for a new minifigure for this character definitely at the center of the Star Wars universe this year.
The minifigure in a bag distributed at the 2012 New York Toy Fair can be considered a representation of this new Darth Maul. However, I think LEGO could do better with a more realistic depiction of these new legs, which definitely deserve a dedicated mold.
