It's time of the annual financial report at LEGO and after a mixed year in 2017, the manufacturer announces that it has returned to growth in 2018 without, however, returning to the level of the very good results of 2016.
4% increase in turnover (including 3% increase in sales), operating profit which reached 4% this year and net profit up 3.5% compared to 2017.
In addition to these encouraging figures which confirm that LEGO was able to save its 2018 financial year during the last six months of the year after a disappointing first half, the manufacturer announces that growth is back on all markets: less than 10% in Western Europe and the United States but double-digit growth in China where the brand's establishment is accelerating with 80 official store openings in 18 cities across the country announced in 2019. Including the openings already carried out in 2018, China will have more than 2019 LEGO Stores at the end of 140 in around thirty cities.
LEGO also announces that it wants to strengthen its presence in the Middle East and India.
On the side of the successful ranges, we find the usual universes: CITY, Technic, Ninjago, Friends and obviously Star Wars. The manufacturer mentions in passing without giving more details that the Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Creator and Classic ranges have also "recorded good results".
