End of the first day of Fana'Briques 2014. I have not yet taken pictures, even if there are very beautiful things there. I will do it tomorrow morning, just to present a non-exhaustive selection of what we find over the stands.
Overall, I find that the standard of what is presented on site is even higher than what I had seen in previous years and that is a good thing.
There are stunning creations, artfully presented ambitious dioramas, and exhibitors available to interact with the (many) visitors.
A little nod to the two 2014 novelties on display in an outdoor display: The 10242 Mini Cooper set and the LEGO Ideas 21110 Research Institute set.
Another detail that deserves to be underlined, the presence of many French LUGs all gathered in a friendly atmosphere which is a pleasure to see to offer the public a quality exhibition. A great effort of cohesion and collaboration.
Thank you to all the blog readers who came forward and with whom I was able to exchange a few words. It's always very nice to be able to put a face to a nickname and to communicate other than through comments.
Geeks from the south and elsewhere, the event not to be missed this weekend is taking place at the Parc des Expositions de Nîmes and there will be LEGO on site with the presence of the association Brick66 and the club team Bionifigs who is coming for the first time to the Great South to meet fans of Bionicle and D'Action Figures, history for LEGO fans to be on familiar ground amidst the many other activities offered.
The price of the entrance ticket may seem high at first, but the program of the event is rather busy with many panels, video game tournaments, cosplay, book signings, board games and role playing games, etc.
It's too far for me and I also have a swimming pool, but if you go there, don't hesitate to share your impressions in the comments.
The schedules:
- Saturday May 24 from 10 a.m. to 00 p.m.
- Sunday May 25 from 10 a.m. to 00 p.m.
The rates :
- Normal price 1 day: 9 €
- Normal price 2 days: 15 € (13 € if you buy your tickets online)
This week in Star Wars mode will end as far as I'm concerned with a weekend in Cusset on the occasion of the convention Star Wars & Science-Fiction Generations organized by the Héritiers de la Force.
On the menu, a few players from Original Trilogy with Jeremy Bulloch alias Boba Fett, Dermot Crowley alias the rebel General Crix Madine and Cathy Munroe who played the bounty hunter Zuckuss, two conferences which should be interesting (Stéphane Faucourt will speak on vintage Star Wars products, and StarWars-Universe.com will speak about future of the saga), LEGO with a diorama presented by FreeLUG, quality cosplay with the 501st French Garrison and the Rebel Legion, MintInBox collectors, designers who will come to present their works and of course toy sellers and of Star Wars merchandise.
More details on the progress of this convention, access to which is completely free on the site of the Héritiers de la Force.
By (almost) general request, I put online an agenda of upcoming LEGO events (Expos, conventions, etc.) at this address and also accessible from the menu Navigate bottom left
This weekend, I have a change of scenery by going for a walk in Châtenoy-le-Royal, a small town located next to Chalon sur Saône for the 2014 edition of the Festi'Briques exhibition.
I'll be there all weekend, and anyone who wants to get a closer look some custom minifigs quality can come and meet us on our dedicated space and add some nice superheroes to their collection.
For the rest, if you pass in the area, come and visit us, I always enjoy exchanging, discussing, and even debating with the readers of the blog. If you have complaints, questions, things to say, now is the time to do it face to face, we are not savages.
The exhibition, which takes place at the Alain Colas Gymnasium located 8 avenue Georges Brassens, will be accessible on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 00 p.m.
The price of the entrance ticket is set at € 4 for adults, € 2 for children under 16 and under 4 do not pay.
If you have nothing planned this weekend, here's what to take care of: The campus of the DOUA (INSA) in Villeurbanne welcomes Saturday April 12 and Sunday April 13 the first Briqu'Convention Villeurbanne.
On the menu, LEGO, more LEGO and always LEGO, the presence of Samsofy, sympathetic photographer of LEGO, the diffusion of the brickfilm "Copyright" by Maxime Marion, a robotic challenge (Lego robot challenge) and LEGO.
Entrance is free for children under 5, it will cost you € 1 if you are under 18 or are a student at INSA and € 2.50 for others.
Opening of the convention Saturday from 10 a.m. to 00 p.m. and Sunday from 19 a.m. to 00 p.m.
More information on the website FreeLUG or on that of GMD department (Mechanical Engineering Development) from INSA.
I won't be able to make it there, having other long-planned projects in the pipeline, but feel free to share your thoughts in the comments if you're going to check it out this weekend.
