9516 Jabba's Palace

You will tell me that I recycle an old play on words And you're right.

But it's for a good cause: It's in light of a posted photo on EB by Alldarker that the far-fetched theory, but not too much, of a Rancor pit in the form of a set begins to gain ground ...

Indeed, if you look closely at the image above, you will see four 2x2 holes there which are not really useful in the current state of the set. 9516 Jabba's Palace (sold € 99.12 on amazon.es). So the shortcut is quickly taken: What if LEGO separately released a set in the mind? Structure allowing to insert under the palace of the infamous Jabba a pit housing the even more infamous Rancor?

In my opinion, it is playable. The Rancor, as huge as it is, can be produced by LEGO which knows how to make Wampas, Trolls or Hulks ...

Suddenly, the set 9516 Jabba's Palace would take on a whole other dimension, much more interesting than the current hut in which we stack our minifigs and the trap door would become really useful, you can throw your renegade minifigs there to see them being devoured by the Rancor figurine inspired by the one seen in the animated episode Star Wars The Padawan Menace...

For the record, remember that the set 4480 Jabba's Palace released in 2003 had been added the same year two other sets to form a relatively correct overall composition: 4475 Jabba's Message et 4476 Jabba's Prize...

Pick-A-Brick: Batman & Robin

Those who follow already know that June's Pick-A-Brick model is all about classic brick-based Batman and Robin.

The only problem is the two stickers supplied with the model, which will have to be reproduced to obtain the same result as on the visual above.

It shouldn't be too complicated, especially since you can download the official LEGO instructions in pdf format by clicking on the image above or on the following link: Pick-A-Brick: Batman & Robin.

The file also contains the list of necessary parts, and even if this model is not an aesthetic revolution, it is still a nice exercise to practice during a moment of free time.

If anyone gets their hands on a drinkable scan of the two stickers in question, please indicate so in the comments.

The Winchester - Shaun of the Dead

I'm not going to tell you the whole story around the project The Winchester - Shaun of the Dead offered on Cuusoo by Yatkuu, you already know it.

In summary: Joli MOC, project submitted, massive enthusiasm, support in spades with in particular the actors of the film, 10.000 supporters threshold reached, rejection of the project by LEGO. Period.

We could have said that it was the end of the adventure for Yatkuu and his MOC. But the guy has resources, and he doesn't let go so easily. The enthusiasm around this MOC was such that the possibility of offering it to fans through an alternative channel has gained ground. And it's on bricklink (besides a little roughed up by many attacks currently) that it happens: The list of the parts necessary for the reproduction of this MOC is available there in the form of various downloadable files at this address: Winchester.zip.

In this archive you will find:
The MOC .lxf file (to be opened under Lego digital designer)
The .bsx file of the parts (to be opened under brick store
The minifig .bsx file

Yatkuu also announces that it is currently working on the pdf instruction file necessary for the assembly of this MOC, which should be available on June 30, 2012 in the form of 3 separate booklets, in the spirit of what LEGO is doing for sets. from the range Structure. These instructions will then be made available free of charge for those who wish to continue the adventure of Winchester.

Here is what becomes of this project, and several shops bricklink should offer lots comprising the parts necessary for the assembly of this MOC.

If you are interested, go to the dedicated topic on the Bricklink forum for more details on the marketing of these coin super lots.

Imperium der Steine @ Star Wars Days LEGOLAND

Our German AFOL friends are not kidding with the concept of diorama. In Steine Imperium (IDS for the rest of the text), when we exhibit creations, we go all out and once again a large number of exceptional creations were presented at the Star Wars Days organized at the LEGOLAND park in Guntzburg (DE).

Yavin 4 (Photo above), Christophsis, Jabba's Palace (Tatooine), Naboo, so many places reproduced on a scale that commands respect and with an impressive level of detail.

If like me, you don't speak German, but you like beautiful creations, go quickly to the album published by IDS which includes some photos (too few) of this event. It's beautiful, well presented and well worth spending a few minutes there ...

Artifex Review: 21102 LEGO Minecraft

You will say that I insist when I was the first to criticize this set, but the Artifex review is full of second degree, so I impose it on you here.

After the buzz around this set from the Cuusoo concept, I'm curious to see how many of you have spent your money in this box of 480 pieces available on the LEGO Shop for 34.99 €... Indeed, I hardly see any reviews, and there is not even a single comment on the sheet of the set at LEGO ....

I'm not fooled by the fact that the buzz was mostly organized by Minecraft gamers more than LEGO fans, but I remember bitter discussions between AFOLs who supported the initiative and those who found it uninteresting.

However, as usual with new products, we talk more about them before their release than after and many people are enthusiastic about a set or a range when they are announced but change their minds when the products are finally available at the sale, especially for reasons of excessively high prices.
