The debate around the remake of the LEGO Star Wars 10188 Death Star set, embodied by the new reference 75159 Death Star, is endless. Everyone has their own arguments to express their joy at being able to afford an improved version of a set that has become cult or their disappointment in the face of a remake with anecdotal modifications.
To see a little more clearly and to get a vague idea of the number of owners of the 10188 Death Star set and the number of potential buyers of the 75159 Death Star set who are participating in this debate, I offer you a small survey with two very simple questions .
The results will be posted as soon as you have voted and I encourage you to answer as honestly as possible the two questions put to you.
This poll will obviously not have absolute statistical value, but it may help fuel the debate in a more visual way.
First question, just to put things straight:
[totalpoll id = "11798"] |
Second question, with a choice that will allow the undecided to kick more or less into touch:
[totalpoll id = "11796"] |
As I have received many emails on this subject and the file must be closed one day, now is the time to say goodbye to the set. 10188 Death Star, which after 7 years of presence in the LEGO catalog, is finally bowing out.
The set is "out of print"on the LEGO Shop, and it is now labeled"Soon abandoned", equivalent to the words"Retiring soon"used on English versions from the official LEGO store.
In the same category, we also find the set 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter released in 2013, still available but which will also disappear from the shelves of the LEGO Shop soon along with a few other boxes including the sets 76023 The Tumbler et 75053 The Ghost.
What more can be said ? I hope everyone who wanted to get the 10188 Death Star set did so as part of the many promotions it has received over the years. For the most reckless among you, console yourself, the rumor promises us a new Death Star for 2016 ...
While everyone had already buried the 10188 Death Star set and prices were starting to skyrocket on some classified ad sites, LEGO has just put a stop to the rumors by adding a discreet mention in the product sheet on the LEGO Shop US: " We are currently making more, so please check back soon for availability".
This message is clear: LEGO is relaunching a production wave for this box which therefore retains its status as an exclusive set with the longest lifespan until proven otherwise, with for the moment 7 years of presence in the LEGO catalog.
The soap opera continues ...
It has almost become a chestnut tree in the small world of LEGO: Every year, we talk about the imminent end of the marketing of the set 10188 Death Star which has become over time the exclusive LEGO set with the longest lifespan with for the moment 7 years of presence in the LEGO catalog.
This time, it is the mention "Sold Out"posted on the LEGO Shop US which sets fire to the powder. In short, it's over, basta, there will never be again, curtain. All over the web, we are worried, we hurry to 'buy, we say to ourselves that we must quickly stock up to resell later ...
But beware, it's not quite finished: The French LEGO Shop still displays a nice mention "Available"which confirms that the European stock is not yet exhausted.
I think that all those who really wanted to afford this playset anyway had plenty of time to do so and especially at a more interesting price than the one offered. by LEGO currently (432.99 €). If you go back in the archives of the blog, you will see that this set has regularly been offered for less than € 300 by many brands.
In short, this may be the end of this box of 3803 pieces and 24 minifigs. Maybe someday we'll see a more expensive Death Star remake with fewer parts and fewer minifigs. Maybe not.
Those who want to respect a minute of silence can do so, the others can move on.
Many of you have notified me by email that the sets are out of stock 10221 Super Star Destroyer et 10188 Death Star on the LEGO Shop intervened only a few hours after the launch of the operation May the 4th which will be spread over a week.
These two sets are no longer highlighted in the "Sales and special offers"but are still accessible via the LEGO Shop search engine (Direct links by clicking on the visuals above and below).
LEGO announces a shipping date for May 13/14, and it is currently still possible to pre-order these boxes. Please note, LEGO usually indicates a relatively distant date in the event of a replenishment of a box, but delivery often occurs well before this date. I contacted LEGO to try to get more information on this.
If you had hesitated or waited until now to get these sets to yourself, I hope you were able to order them before they ran out of stock.
If you have ordered one of these boxes and your order is still awaiting validation or shipping, do not hesitate to post in the comments on the following events (shipping, cancellation by customer service, etc. .)
