u wing midi scale

If like me you are nostalgic for the M formatidi-scale, operated by LEGO for only two boxes in the Star Wars range with references 7778 Mid-scale Millennium Falcon (2009) et 8099 Midi-Scale Imperial Star Destroyer (2010), here's what to take care of with this very successful creation: A U-Wing Midi scale whose wings fold up that you can assemble at home using the instructions in PDF format to download below.

The 7778 and 8099 sets were excellent compromises: The level of detail was sufficient without sacrificing playability or space saving for those who wanted to display them. Too bad that LEGO hasn't continued to adapt other ships and gear to this scale.

This U-Wing's .LXF file was made available by the ship's creator (psychobilly1 on Reddit). Some parts are not available in the color used under LDD in mode Expanded, but they can easily be replaced.

You can DIY this U-Wing as you like in Lego digital designer and even import it into the new tool similar to LDD, Studio, to directly supply your Wanted List on bricklink and order the parts you need.

Regulars of the blog may remember the astromech R2-D2 droid at scale Midi Scale that Daniel aka had proposed to us DanSto early 2013 (see this article). This version of R2-D2 has since inspired many MOCeurs including Omar Ovalle who had made a version of it "Maya the abeille".

Two years later, the little droid is finally joined by his lifelong companion on the same scale: C-3PO. The circle is complete, the droid couple is reformed and you can even reproduce these two creations at home thanks to the instructions provided (free) by DanSto.

Note that this version of C-3PO composed of a little more than 500 pieces and which measures 28 cm high has been the subject of some concessions: The Technic discs present on the joints of the knees and on the torso have been dressed stickers because they do not exist in yellow. The presence of certain pieces in Tan is explained for the same reason.

This version of C-3PO is not frozen, even if we will obviously enjoy making him take his characteristic posture seen in the films of the saga: shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, neck, torso, thighbones, everything is articulated. .

To download the instructions in PDF format as well as the inventory files to import on Bricklink of these two droids, it is at this address that it happens.

The visuals of the stickers allowing to dress the discs present on the chest and on the knees are even included!

If you have any questions for Daniel, especially concerning the use and cutting of the pipes of different colors present in this MOC, do not hesitate to ask them in the comments, I am sure he will be happy to answer you .

Below is an assembly of different views of the droid (Click on the image for a large version).

R2-D2 Mid-Size by DanSto

Back to a DanSto MOC which obviously appeals to me by the chosen format. And this R2-D2 more compact than the version of set 10225 released in 2012 (see this comparative visual) deserves that you take the time to look into it.

DanSto succeeds in delivering a detailed astromech droid in a relatively compact format, while retaining essential functionality. The dome with visible studs becomes as far as I'm concerned more consistent at this scale than on the official UCS version and the angle of inclination of the feet seems to me to be closer to the model in the film.

Instructions in pdf format are available free of charge at this address (13 MB): R2-D2 Mid Size by DanSto and this is good news because I know that many of you are expressing your frustration in front of an OMC that you would like to reproduce in your spare time but for which the instructions are not available.

This MOC is subject to Cuusoo project that you can support if, like me, you have an activist soul in favor of the Midi-Scale format. This project will struggle to find 10.000 supporters, but a conviction vote to remind LEGO that the Midi-Scale has its followers is never too much.

DanSto has also posted its MOC on his flickr gallery and you can also find it on Rebrickable.

Midi-Scale Imperator II-Class Star Destroyer

While waiting to know if someone will offer us some images of the Nuremberg Toy Fair which has just opened its doors, I offer you a MOC perfectly balanced between level of detail and sobriety of the Star Destroyer in Midi-Scale, format that I 'particularly appreciates.

Collectors will immediately think back to the official 8099 Midi-Scale Imperial Star Destroyer set released in 2010, one of two scale sets that LEGO has deigned to release to date, the other being the 7778 Midi-Scale Millennium Falcon released in 2009. .

alexander alias V1lain on flickr So presents us his version of the Star Destroyer (481 pieces, 19x30x10 cm) at this scale and he even made some a Cuusoo project that you can support, even though we all know there is no chance this MOC will end up on the shelves at your favorite toy store ...

At the risk of rambling on and passing for an activist for lost causes, I persist in saying that the Midi-Scale format, which offers an excellent potential compromise of exposure / space saving on our crowded shelves, really deserves a sub-range. dedicated at LEGO ...

You can discover many other views of this ship on the MOCeur flickr gallery which also indicates that it will subsequently make public the instruction file for this MOC.
