Close-up today on a somewhat particular set: It is not available for sale, it will soon be offered by LEGO and despite its look of Advent calendar, we would almost be dealing with a box of the Creator range disguised as a festive product.
This set bearing the reference 40222 LEGO Christmas Build Up will allow you to get 250 pieces (no minifig) in a box the size of a Building Figure from the LEGO Star Wars range and advertises itself as a 24-in-1 product. Its theoretical US public price is $ 19.99.
The peculiarity of this box, clearly displayed on the packing box and which makes it a set that could be classified in the Creator range, is that the 24 models offered cannot all be built at the same time with inventory provided and share common rooms. It will therefore be necessary to disassemble a model to build another and arrive at the end of the 24 mini-things, as explicitly indicated in the instruction booklet. The brick separator is provided.
Small remark following an indication of the official description which may mislead you: "...Also includes a resealable box, brick separator and extensive building instructions for all 24 models ...". This is not the red box seen on the set illustration visuals but the original packaging.
Nothing revolutionary to build, we constantly navigate between the usual mini-tips of the Advent City or Friends calendars and the Monthly Builds offered in the LEGO Stores. We obviously end with a Santa Claus after a few creatures and animals decked out with a pair of Mixel type eyes, toys, a tree, etc ...
I'm not going to list the 24 models provided here, nor to tell you on 500 lines and with great reinforcements of superlatives why each of them is a jewel of incredible creativity, blah blah ... Others will take care of it. and I guarantee you that flickr, instagram and others will be invaded by all kinds of clichés of these mini-things from December 1st.
On the inventory side, to get a more precise idea of the contents of the box, you can download the PDF file that I have crafted for you at this address.
In the end, and because it's free, this little set is in my opinion a great idea that will pass the time while waiting for Christmas. And 250 coins is always good to take.
This box will be offered on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores from 23 October to 20 November 2016 from 65 € of purchase without restriction of range.
Note: If anyone is interested, I would gladly offer my copy (open) via a random draw among the comments posted below (Deadline for participation: October 15, 2016 at 23:59 p.m.). You save nothing at all since the product will be offered. Oh yes, you will still have to spend 65 € on the Shop to have it ...
