Since the launch of the series of collectable minifigs, the range of displays for exhibiting the different characters has exploded. And that's without counting on the know-how of many fans who design their own displays from various and varied frames purchased from IKEA and others.
Minifigure Display is a brand specializing in the design and marketing of this type of display and I received a copy of one of their latest creations, just to be able to tell you about it here in full knowledge of the facts.
This display, which can accommodate 16 or 20 minifigs depending on the model, does not overbid: It is a minimalist product without a showcase, and which is a priori strong enough to end up in a child's room. from LEGO.
The base is made of maple wood and the 28 cm side tray for the minifigs is in expanded PVC. 16 white 2x3 plates are provided, they are housed in the holes provided to serve as a base for the minifigs on display. The cutout of the PVC table top is correct, although the rounded corners could have benefited from a little more care: the rounding is not perfect.
The whole is sober, and the absence of glass allows immediate access to the characters. I also see it more an object to store his minifigs until the next adventure than a case for a collector concerned with protecting his favorite characters from the dust and ravages of time.
Let's talk about the price: 32.00 €. This is the price to pay to afford this product imagined by the designer Lars winkler. We can discuss the interest of spending such a sum in such a minimalist display. Everyone will have an opinion on the subject and the more DIY enthusiasts will prefer to take out their Dremel to make a custom display.
If price is not an essential criterion in your eyes, this display is a nice gift to give to a young LEGO fan who usually leaves his favorite characters carelessly lying around and then comes to see you with tears in his eyes complaining about not not find his favorite man-banana or his man-shark ...
Speaking of the man with the shark costume, some minifigs will struggle to find their place on the intended stands. These should be adjusted so that the accessories that protrude from the back of the minifigure do not interfere with the installation. Nothing prevents you from replacing the 2x3 plates by 2x4 plates for an additional row of studs between the minifig and the plate.
Finally, be aware that these products are manufactured and shipped from Spain. From what I could judge, special care is taken in the packaging.
This model is only one reference among others. A wide range of displays, some of which are in the colors of the different LEGO ranges (Star Wars, The Simpsons, Monster Fighters, Super Heroes, etc.) is available at Minifigures Display at this address.
Note: We do as usual, you have until November 12, 2016 at 23:59 p.m. to manifest yourself.
