Today we are taking a quick look at the two new items in the LEGO Animal Crossing range available since August 1, 2024, the references 77051 Fly With Dodo Airlines (292 pieces - 37.99 €) and 77052 KK's Concert at the Plaza (550 pieces - 79.99 €).

The range so far included five boxes which have been joined since this summer by these two new products derived from the video game and we know since the official announcement which took place during the Gamescom 2024 that at least three new references are planned for early 2025. The overall playset composed of the contents of all these boxes therefore expands a little more with each new release, like the giant diorama made up of all the boxes of the LEGO Super Mario range marketed to date.

The recipe for the range does not change with these two new products, the constructions are basic, they are modular according to your desires and they are designed to integrate into a more global whole. They are still only half-constructions with their respective facades and guaranteed accessibility at the back of each of them. The youngest will thus be able to have fun with the many accessories provided but the older ones will undoubtedly be a little disappointed by the flagrant lack of finishing of the residents' office and the airport.

The two vehicles provided bring a bit of substance to the set with a camper van on one side and a seaplane on the other. Both constructions are in the spirit of the range, it is basic without being sloppy and the camper van even has an opening system that allows access to the interior of the vehicle. The removable roof box allows you to store a few accessories, we are not going to be overly amazed to have to deal with something playable but it is still one more feature than in other boxes in the range.

The seaplane would probably have deserved to be completely closed while keeping the possibility of installing Rodrigue at the controls, we will have to make do with this convertible plane. No stickers in these boxes, everything is pad printed.

No interactive figurine, no bonus to scan, no dedicated application, these two new boxes are like the previous classic derivative products sold by LEGO as allowing to "get away from screens". However, you will have to have been in front of a screen and for enough time to know what it is and possibly spend your money on these sets which only offer the usual interactivity of LEGO products.

We can imagine that the youngest will find what they are looking for between two games on the Switch by imitating the actions seen on the screen, but we're not going to lie to ourselves, these products are mainly attractive because they allow you to obtain some nicely executed minifigs. The same minifigs sold with few or no pieces would have found their audience in the same way, but LEGO is a manufacturer of construction toys and so you will once again have to buy bricks to obtain the figurines of Kéké, Marie, Monica, Rodrigue and Marine.

We are obviously reaching the limits of the possibilities offered by the LEGO ecosystem when it comes to reproducing the content of a video game: you have to be content with mimicking the actions seen on the screen to have a little fun, minus the dose of video game fun. It is also difficult to rely on the argument that LEGO products allow you to get away from screens when a product is itself directly inspired by one of the most time-consuming video games of recent years.

I have already pointed out in the past, the modularity of the concept is interesting with the possibility of organizing the overall playset according to the available space or your desires, for example by aligning all the products on a decorative shelf or by grouping all the constructions in the corner of the floor of a room. The possibilities are endless, the accessories provided are numerous and the paths to implement to allow you to move from one house to another or to go from a house to the beach can be constantly renewed and diversified. From there to really playing for long hours with this playset, you will have to be really motivated.

The fact remains that LEGO is offering new derivative products here, in my opinion, that are rather faithful to the reference license despite the aesthetic shortcuts. The figurines are still as successful with well-adapted pad printing from the game universe, the most assiduous collectors will definitely find something to their liking. We could quibble about the presence of arms at Rodrigue instead of a more appropriate pair of wings, but once again it is up to everyone to estimate the level of concessions to be made so that these figurines remain minifigs and do not fall into the Kinder product.

At this point, these products appeal more to players' nostalgia than to the news of the video game itself, even if the title still seems to bring together a large community of fans. From there to cluttering up with all these constructions and possibly playing with them, you will have to be very motivated especially when it comes to paying with relatively high public prices compared to the content offered. Fortunately, Amazon is already making an effort on prices and allows you to buy these pretty minifigs accompanied by a few parts for a little less:

You probably already know, LEGO is present at Gamescom 2024 which takes place in Cologne (Germany) from August 21 to 25, 2024. The manufacturer has set up a stand there which brings together the different licenses linked to the world of video games that it is currently operating with presentations of derivative products already available or announced staged in the middle of giant sculptures.

LEGO is taking the opportunity to announce some of the new products expected in 2025, including half a dozen boxes around the Mario Kart universe and three sets which will join the Animal Crossing range from January 1, 2025:

No announcement of new LEGO video game during theOpening Night of the event, we will have to wait to find out if LEGO and 2K Games intend to tell us more about the LEGO 2K Goooal game!

It is thanks to a short teaser posted online by LEGO on social networks that we are today discovering the first visuals of two new features expected in the Animal Crossing range from August 1, 2024 and which will then flesh out the playset already created using the first five references available since March 1:

We now have to wait for these two sets to be put online on the official online store to discover their contents a little more closely, they will then be accessible directly via the links above.

Update : official visuals of these two products are now available.

Today we are very quickly taking a look at all the new features in the LEGO Animal Crossing range with five boxes which have been available since March 1, 2024. I am not insulting you by telling you the same thing five times in a row. continued in five "Review" separated, this range is coherent and strongly calls for a group purchase for the most die-hard fans of the video game from which it is freely inspired.

For those who have not followed, the range actually consists of five different products whose public prices range from €14.99 to €74.99, just to cover all the usual price ranges and to satisfy all budgets, even the most expensive. tight:

Fans of the video game which kept a lot of people busy during successive confinements and which has retained a rather loyal audience will therefore have to spend the modest sum of €179.95 or look elsewhere than at LEGO to save a few euros and it is at this price there they will bring together all the characters delivered in these boxes with the necessary incidental material to assemble a playset which will occupy a good part of the living room table or the bedroom floor.

We can invoke the resemblance between the approach used here and the products of the LEGO Super Mario universe with in particular the possibility of organizing the different modules of the same set according to your desires and then connecting each section to the others but it does not We must not count here on a playful overlay or any interactivity beyond the usual possibilities.

No interactive figurine, no bonus to scan, no dedicated application, these five boxes are classic derivative products sold by LEGO as allowing you to “get away from the screens”. However, you will have to have been in front of a screen for a sufficient amount of time to know what it is about and possibly spend your money on these sets which only offer the usual interactivity of LEGO products.

We can imagine that the youngest will find what they're looking for between two games on the Switch by aping the actions seen on the screen, but we're not going to lie, these products are especially attractive because they allow you to obtain some nicely designed minifigs. executed. The same minifigs sold with few or no parts would have found their audience in the same way but LEGO is a manufacturer of construction toys and you will therefore have to buy bricks to obtain the figurines of Tom Nook, Rosie, Marie, Bibi, Mathéo, Admiral, Clara and Lico.

The modularity of the concept is interesting with the possibility of organizing the overall playset according to the available space or your desires, for example by aligning all the products on a decorative shelf or by grouping all the constructions in the corner of the floor. 'room. The possibilities are endless, the accessories provided are numerous and the routes to be implemented to allow you to go from one house to another or to go from one house to the beach can be constantly renewed and diversified. From there to actually playing with the playset, you will have to be really motivated.

The three houses provided are only half-built and that's a bit of a shame. We can guess the economy of rooms under the guise of allowing access to the interior spaces and the concept deserved in my opinion better than these facades knowing that the rest is only made up of elements of vegetation and a few reliefs which do not offer a breathtaking building experience. The most courageous will have fun changing the windows of their homes, this is planned by LEGO and it is in line with the content of the video game.

We are obviously once again reaching the limits of the possibilities offered by the LEGO ecosystem when it comes to reproducing the content of a video game: you have to be content with mimicking the actions seen on the screen to have fun a little, less dose of video game fun. It is difficult to rely on the argument which consists of invoking that LEGO products allow us to move away from screens when a product is itself directly inspired by one of the most time-consuming video games of recent years, I I tried this approach with very young players, they quickly left these products aside by simply lining up the minifigs...in front of the dock of their Switch before resuming an online game.

The fact remains that LEGO offers very well executed derivative products here that are faithful to the reference license and that the figurines are successful. Many fans cite the kinship between these figurines with molded heads and the characters from the Fabuland universe, others only see minifigs which clearly go beyond the usual framework and have a little difficulty with the bias aesthetic, everyone has their own interpretation of what a minifig should be and the limitations of the format. As far as I am concerned, I think that we had to go there frankly to stick to the reference universe and that these minifigs would not have had the same flavor if LEGO had been satisfied with the usual constraints.

In any case, I'm not worried, these products will sell easily even if the prices charged are high, that all this happens a little late with a large group of players who have already moved on to something else or are less available to spend hours there and that the contents of these boxes remain of a simplicity which can disappoint the most demanding LEGO fans.

The Animal Crossing license is here however suitably declined by LEGO, we can always hope for bigger, more detailed and necessarily more expensive, but the compromise seems acceptable to me and the adaptation of the universe concerned seems credible enough to convince the fans who love to combine their video game passions with their affinity for LEGO products. The others will simply have saved €180.

Note: The batch of products presented here, provided by LEGO, is as usual involved. Deadline fixed at March 15, 2024 next at 23:59 p.m. Simply post a comment below the article to participate. Onward to a very large handful of new products which are now available on the official store with many ranges affected by this spring launch.

As is often the case, there are some nice things in this wave, but the majority of these boxes will be available quickly for much less expensive elsewhere. As usual, it is therefore up to you to decide whether you should go ahead and pay the full price for these boxes or whether you should show a little patience and wait for the inevitable reductions that will be offered in the weeks and months to come at Amazonon FNAC.comat Cdiscountat Auchan and at a few other resellers.

Notice to the most complete collectors among you, the LEGO Animal Crossing range will be available in a version localized in Japan with packaging specific to this region where the game bears the name Doubutsu No Mori.

These products should quickly be available via the secondary market but you will probably have to pay a large sum to bring them to France via a reshipment service. We will remember that LEGO is making the effort even on the promotional polybag which will be offered to Japanese customers who pre-order these products.

No pre-order in France where the “classic” version of these boxes will be available from March 1, 2024:

Last October, LEGO officially unveiled the five officially licensed Animal Crossing products which will be available on shelves from March 1, 2024. The manufacturer then simply revealed the contents of these boxes but did not offer visuals of the associated packaging. This is the sign Smyths toys which finally allows us today to discover the visuals of the different boxes in the range, and it's quite successful.

We could consider that the box is only an accessory element of LEGO products, but we all know here that it plays an essential role in the relationship we have with these sets which ultimately only contain loose bricks arranged in boxes. sachets, knowing that many collectors may never see what these packages contain and will simply be content to admire the work of the graphic designers.

LEGO does not offer pre-orders for these five derivative products, you will have to patiently wait until March 1, 2024 to get cracking:
