Revealed in June 2012, and slated for release on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in the fall of 2012, LEGO City Undercover , a sort of GTA for children developed by TT Games, is making headlines again today: I've received several emails informing me that brand new images have just been released, revealing vehicles that will be featured in upcoming LEGO sets (particularly City and Friends). To answer everyone who kindly wrote to me, here's some real information:
These images are not recent, nor exclusive, nor leaked, nor stolen; they were already in the game's promotional kit in June 2012, and they have been circulating widely on the web since E3 (notably on nintendo-master.com in early June).
No LEGO source confirms that the machines in the game will be reproduced in plastic form. We already know that LEGO does not convert all of the content of its video games (minifigs, machines, etc.) developed by TT Games into sets. Star Wars fans in particular know this well ...
We can however imagine that the game, if it meets the hoped-for success and nothing is less certain, will be supported by a range of physical products featuring the main characters and their vehicles. But there are too many parameters to take into account to say today that this will be the case.
