This is the announcement of the day: the set LEGO Creator Expert 10268 Vestas Wind Turbine (826 pieces - 179.99 €) which will be on sale from November 23 on the occasion of Black Friday. no VIP preview for this box. The set is now online on the LEGO Shop at this address.
This is a barely updated reissue of the 4999 set released in 2008, a limited edition product reserved for the Vestas company which then offered it to its employees and which was never marketed by LEGO. This box is always negotiated around 400 € on eBay, bricklink ou Amazon.
Ten years later, LEGO finally decides to produce a consumer version of this set by unearthing the original reference of the Vault (the space where LEGO archives a copy of each set) to allow anyone who has previously given their money to third-party resellers on Bricklink or eBay to checkout directly at LEGO.
The most observant will have noted that this set will be the first to integrate an element now made from ethanol from the distillation of sugar cane: the spruce placed at the foot of the wind turbine is indeed made of bio-polyethylene.
For the rest, we note that this box contains elements Power Functions which allow the wind turbine to be started and the entrance to the hut to be illuminated. Still missed, for the new concept Powered Up, we will have to wait a little longer.
The element endowment Power Functions is also rather interesting if we forget that the concept is now at the end of its life and soon definitively replaced by a set of elements using different connectors and Bluetooth technology: A battery box (8881 - 7.90 € retail), an M motor (8883 - 8.90 € retail), a set of LEDs (8870 - 7.90 € retail) and two 50 cm extension cables (8871 - 5.49 € retail).
Two employees of the Vestas company, the owner of the cabin and her dog are provided. Note that the Vestas employee minifigures supplied with the 4999 set were then covered with stickers on the chest. Those of 2018 will obviously be pad printed.
Interesting detail, the parts bearing the Vestas logo placed on the cabin of the wind turbine and on the body of the service van are also pad printed.
Overall dimensions of the set: 100 x 62 x 31 cm.
If you are planning to treat yourself to a set of wind turbines for your LEGO CITY diorama, you can do so next November.
Note that the public price of the set in France (179.99 € on the LEGO Shop) is aligned with the tariff to be applied in Germany. Belgian customers will have to spend € 199.99 to afford this box ...
We will talk about this box in more detail in a few weeks on the blog on the occasion of a "Review ".
