LEGO FORMA 81000 Koi

Prepare yourself, LEGO announces "the Premium experience for adults"with a new product called LEGO FORMA featuring ... a carp (ref. LEGO 81000 Koï).

The concept is simple, you open the box, you assemble the fish and its base using the 294 pieces provided, you decorate it using one of the four flexible plastic covers included, you play with it a bit. by making it undulate thanks to the mechanism based on Technic parts and you put it on the chest of drawers in the living room. To put it simply, it's like the dancing fish to hang on the wall but you are the one who reels. If with all this you are not "reconnected with your creative mind", I can do nothing more for you.

Note that the concept has been tested with a number of adult fans and employees of the LEGO group but that the manufacturer still intends to limit the risks by submitting the idea on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform, just to see if the sauce really takes.

Bad news for those who wanted to afford a copy of the thing at a preferential rate, the current campaign only concerns the USA and UK with a minimum target of 500 pre-sold copies. LEGO plans an overall circulation of 20.000 boxes if the campaign is successful.

As usual, you can get the thing on eBay or Bricklink as soon as LEGO delivers the first backers (early 2019) who will then be happy to resell you the set with a small margin. The success of this geographically limited crowdfunding campaign is therefore guaranteed, but perhaps not for the reasons hoped by LEGO ...

Price of the set accompanied by the four skins during the crowdfunding campaign: € 75 instead of € 96. LEGO also markets the basic carp with a single skin priced at € 39 instead of € 47, each of the three additional skins (two variants of carp, 81002 Splash Koï and 81003 Ink Koï, and a shark - 81001 Shark Skin) including the one that can be colored, being sold for the modest sum of ... 14 €.

In the box, LEGO also delivers a series of Technic pins that are currently exclusive to this set, specially designed to hold the skins on the skeleton of the fish. These connectors are also supplied with each retail trim.

This concept is just the first of a whole series of new ideas that LEGO intends to bring to the appreciation of its potential customers over the coming months.

I would have been told that it was a LEGO Ideas set at 29.99 €, I might have said why not ... But at 75 € a box, my creative spirit will express itself differently and for many cheaper.
