LEGO Ideas: The (license) party is over ...

Make way for creativity with change in the rules LEGO Ideas: Projects based on licenses that are already being operated by LEGO will no longer be accepted on the LEGO Ideas platform.

It's good news. No more claims of all kinds, 40.000-piece LEGO Star Wars UCS projects, projects aimed at "encouraging" the creation of a range around one or more existing sets by putting pressure on LEGO via the popular craze , etc ...

Note that this new restriction will not prevent LEGO from rejecting a particular project if there is a conflict of interest with a third party holder of the license concerned.

If a license were to no longer be used by LEGO through its usual ranges, it will be removed from the reference list below and it will then be possible to resubmit projects based on it.

Below, the long list of licenses considered by LEGO as "active" and therefore affected by this update of the regulation:

Active Licenses:
Entertainment
Star Wars, MARVEL Super Heroes, DC Super Heroes & Super Hero Girls, The LEGO Batman Movie, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, The LEGO Movie, Disney characters (Mickey Mouse, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy & Tinker Bell), Moana , Rapunzel, Aladdin, Cars, Whisker Haven Tales with the Palace Pets, Angry Birds, Pirates of the Caribbean, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Miles From Tomorrowland, Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, The Simpsons, Knight Rider, Mission Impossible, Midway Arcade, Lord of the Rings, Gremlins, A-Team, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Sonic the Hedgehog, Portal 2, ET & The Wizard of Oz.

Automotive brands:
Volkswagen, Ferrari, MINI, Porsche, BMW, CLAAS, Volvo, Mercedes, Ford, Audi, Bugatti, Chevrolet & McLaren.

Architecture:
Stand alone buildings (Big Ben, London Tower Bridge, US Capitol Building, Louvre, Buckingham Palace, Burj Khalifa, Eiffel Tower & Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum).
Buildings contained in the skylines (London, Sydney, Chicago, Venice, Berlin & New York).

Projects based on a license used for a set of the LEGO Ideas range, even if it is no longer marketed, will be systematically rejected:

Restricted IP from LEGO Ideas:
Shinkai 6500, Hayabusa, Minecraft, Back to the Future, Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, Ghostbusters The Big Bang Theory, WALL • E, Doctor Who, The Beatles, caterham, Adventure Time, Apollo program, Women of NASA concept

The projects affected by these restrictions which have already entered the review phase and those which are in the race for 10.000 supporters will not be purged. LEGO specifies, however, that they will have little chance of being selected and marketed.
