Let's go for the trickle-down news about the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2013 and which especially interests LEGO fans for the (ultra) exclusive Iron Patriot minifig offered. by the American brand Walmart for any pre-order of the game.
We learn today via the Twitter accounts of two members of the game development team that Jonathan "Johnny" Storm alias Human torch, one of the four super heroes of the team of fantastic 4, will be one of the 100 playable characters in the game.
Venom will also be part of the very long list of virtual characters that it will be possible to lead in the game. These characters will be really playable and will not be simple rewards obtained over the levels as was the case in other games. licensed under LEGO in the past.
With a good hundred characters from the Marvel universe, we are entitled to expect more than what LEGO offers us in terms of minifigs. But we all know that LEGO does not usually decline all virtual minifigs in plastic version and that's a shame ...
Coming back to Iron Patriot, one of the blog readers contacted LEGO and obtained oral confirmation that this minifig would be reserved for the American market a priori. This doesn't mean that Walmart will be the only brand to release this exclusive minifigure, but it is quite possible that it will not be accessible at all in Europe. However, a distribution at one of the next Comic Con (San Diego or New York) would allow it to appear quickly on eBay at a relatively reasonable price.
This is apparently not a limited edition minifigure, its presentation in the form of a polybag is not typical of the usual ultra-exclusive products that LEGO sparingly distils at certain events. I want to believe that LEGO will not reserve this character for a privileged few, at the risk of frustrating many fans, young and old, and collectors.
