It's hard to pretend to know nothing about the next UCS set in the LEGO Star Wars range: The first visuals of the 75159 Death Star set are available and with them the confirmation that this highly anticipated set will be a near-exact copy of the set 10188 Death Star released in 2008 and marketed until 2015 at the public price of € 432.99 (end of career).
Except hidden detail that the visuals already available would not have revealed, there is no reference to the film in this box. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story while its launch will take place a few weeks before the release of a film which largely features this cult space station from the Star Wars universe. Too bad.
This "update" of a playset with exceptional commercial longevity includes the addition of 213 pieces to the 3803 pieces of the model of set 10188 for a total of 4016 pieces, 24 vaguely updated minifigs and an inflation of the public price which the rumor announces to the around 500 €.
The original design probably deserved to be updated rather than slightly retouched. All those who have waited too long to acquire the set 10188, yet seen on sale at very interesting prices on multiple occasions, will be at their expense with this more expensive "new version", stamped Disney and decked out for the shape of the logo Ultimate Collector Series...
The official announcement promises a wave of reactions from fans of the LEGO Star Wars range similar to those seen at the launch of the disappointing UCS set last February 75098 Assault on Hoth. The fact remains that this "new" set will probably quickly become a bestseller and will delight many young fans of the Star Wars universe at Christmas.
Marketing planned for September 30st 2016 with an early sale for members of the VIP program from September 15.
(Visual above tinkered by me, it is NOT a visual of set 75159, embargo, etc ...)
