Here we are. After numerous leaks and intensive teasing from LEGO on social networks, the manufacturer finally unveils the set of all records: the reference 75192 Millennium Falcon (Ultimate Collector Series). The set will be available at the public price of € 799.99 on the LEGO Shop for members of the VIP program from September 14th. Global availability scheduled for October 1. In the meantime, it will be on display in the LEGO Stores.
This set, with its 7541 pieces, becomes the largest ever marketed by the brand. For the occasion, it inherits a huge packaging with a very successful aesthetic flanked by a new version of the mention "Ultimate Collector Series". It is a luxury product in a luxurious setting.
With all due respect to those who kept the previous version to finance their retirement, there was no valid reason why LEGO would not one day re-release the ship from set 10179 released in 2007. It's now done with a welcome exterior makeover and the addition of some interior spaces.
Anyone who still wondered if they had to spend several thousand euros to acquire the previous version no longer has to rack their brains. We can discuss the public price of this set for a long time, but this new version is ultimately much cheaper than the 2007 version sold on the secondary market. End of the story.
With this set, LEGO takes back control of the shelves of products derived from the Star Wars saga. More than an exceptional product, it is above all a demonstration of strength on the part of the manufacturer. Offering this type of product is in itself a nice marketing stunt and enough of it will sell for the operation to be a commercial success as well, there is no doubt. Everyone is talking about it and many are those who will do anything to add this box to their collection.
Some will buy it to keep it in its box, content to watch from afar the reviews of those who have dared to unpack and assemble it. Others will stock a few copies, hoping to double or triple the stake in a few years. The future will tell if they were right. A few will choose to indulge themselves by savoring the promised long hours of editing and will be proud to exhibit this vessel in their homes. To each his own motivations.
For the rest, it's a big Millennium Falcon UCS detailed with a few minifigs, several interior spaces and the possibility of "transforming" it into a version. The Force Awakens / The Last Jedi. No more no less. Some will cry genius and spend without batting an eyelid the 800 € requested by LEGO and others will consider that it is really too expensive for a toy, even if it is of this size. Once again, to each his own perception of things.
As usual, we will talk about this box in more detail soon, and one of you will have saved 800 € in the end ...
Below, the official description of the product followed by the video presentation by the designers who present the set, the new parts it contains and the stickers ...
