LEGO Star Wars Master Builder Series: some details provided by LEGO

It was predictable: the mention Master Builder Series included in the official description of the LEGO Star Wars set 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City (2812 pieces - 349.99 €) relaunched the endless debate around products stamped or not UCS (Ultimate Collector Series), debate today disturbed by this new name that came out of nowhere.

Obviously, LEGO had to react to reassure all these distraught fans who no longer know what to buy or not, especially those who only collect UCS stamped sets ...

You will therefore find below the brief "official" statement from the manufacturer which ends the debate and describes what the products in the sub-range are. Master Builder Series (MBS for those in the know ...) in the hierarchy of products ranging from stuff for kids to the most serious (and expensive) sets reserved for adults.

The sets of the range Master Builder Series so are big playsets with complex assemblies, full of features, a detailed interior and a big ladle of minifigs.

The sets of the range Ultimate Collector Series, a range that does not disappear for all that, are models intended for exhibition such as the reference 75144 Snowspeeder (moreover indicated as "Coming soon" on the LEGO Shop:

The Master Builder Series models are large playsets and beside being complex builds they are characterized by having many play features and functions, interior details as well as a range of minifigures.

Ultimate Collectors Series will remain highly detailed display models providing complex builds with a focus on authenticity and both Ultimate Collectors Series and Master Builder Series will continue as a way to highlight the unique characteristic of each style of model.

Of which act.

We can therefore conclude that the LEGO Star Wars set 75098 Assault on Hoth marketed in 2016 and withdrawn from the LEGO catalog for a few months should have been stamped Master Builder Series which would have made it possible to avoid making him the reputation that we know him ...

I also wonder if the bronca that surrounded the sale of this box is not at the origin of this new "classification".

If it may please some, we can also retroactively put the set away 10236 Ewok Village in this category, it meets the criteria set out by LEGO.

It's more complicated for the playset 75159 Death Star which also meets the criteria but whose packaging is stamped with the logo Ultimate Collector Series. Figure it out.
