Today we are quickly interested in the content of the LEGO set 5009044 Barracuda Seas, an Insiders reward that will be available from November 23, 2024 on the platform dedicated to the manufacturer's loyalty program. You will need to exchange 2400 points, or the equivalent of €16 in exchange value, to obtain the single-use code to use when ordering from the official online store and receive this small promotional product.

Longtime fans will recognize the homage to the Black Seas Barracuda ship commanded by Captain Redbeard, seen in the set 6285 Black Seas Barracuda marketed in 1989 then reissued in 2002 under the reference 10040 Black Seas Barracuda. This is not the first tribute to this boat, a micro version was already present in the set. 40290 60 Years of the Brick offered in February 2018 by LEGO.

The version offered here is economical, the inventory of the set consisting of 148 pieces, a large part of which ends up in the pretty base hosting the ship. No sticker in this box, the plate on the front of the base is pad printed. One can be surprised by the name displayed, which does not really correspond to the title of the reference product: the word Black is missing and the words are in disorder. For the rest, it is relatively basic but fans who have had the classic versions of this boat in their hands will immediately recognize the thing thanks to the yellow pieces and the red and white sails characteristic of the ship.

The thing is obviously very quickly assembled, it will be able to end its career on the corner of a desk or a shelf distilling a little nostalgia. It is rather good for a product of this caliber whose hollow base can even accommodate some souvenirs by lifting the blue plate which welcomes the boat. The most observant had noted that the flag is installed upside down on the official visuals of the product. This is not intentional, it is indeed an error.

Once again, we can ask ourselves the question of exchanging Insider points to obtain this type of set rather than to benefit from a reduction which reduces the amount of the basket ordered, knowing that LEGO sells its products at the public price on its official store.

The one I received was also a little damaged, but I know that LEGO is currently making an effort to deliver these sets in good condition by packing them in a bubble envelope dedicated to them in order to protect them during transport. I will say it again for those who might be wondering when unpacking the set, the inventory is delivered in bulk in a resealable zip bag, this is normal even if it is surprising.
