For the more curious of you who are wondering how the minifigs provided in the new LEGO magnets are attached, here are some views (posted on EB by Solscud007) which allow you to discover the system used by the manufacturer so that you understand that you will now have to forget all the grandmother's tricks that have so far allowed you to take your minifigs off their base.
The minifig is now firmly fixed on its base which serves as background decorative. A metal fastener simply crosses the minifigure right through at the back.
I think the message is clear: Unless you want to decorate your fridge with these magnets which are actually quite aesthetically pleasing, go your way and run to buy your minifigs at retail on eBay or Bricklink.
These magnets are sold for € 5.99 on the Lego shop, and LEGO warns you in all honesty in the description of the product: "... Attaches to refrigerators, lockers and most metal surfaces ... The figure cannot be detached from the decorated plate ..."
