Might as well announce the color right away: I'm not a fan of Daiman Mardon's interpretation of Bantha that is too cartoonish for my taste. I was much more enthusiastic about his Dewback (see this article).
But I'm also of the opinion that we need an official Bantha and a few more Tusken Raiders. This is why I think this Cuusoo project deserves a nod even - it is obvious that reaching 10.000 supporters is utopian. Cuusoo's history also shows that AFOLs really have trouble mobilizing en masse around a concept without the help of communities outside the LEGO universe.
The Bantha has never been produced by LEGO. It is high time to right this injustice, and even if the official product could only closely resemble the one presented above, I had to make my modest contribution to the promotion of this idea.
To support the Cuusoo project by Daiman Mardon, it's over there. You can also go to his flickr gallery to have access to large format views of the creature.
