New LEGOLAND park in Belgium: it's signed, opening in 2027

We had not heard from this project since March 2021 and the declaration of the company Merlin Entertainments which confirmed that the group was seeking to extend its European presence and showed great interest in the installation of a new LEGOLAND park in Belgium a few kilometers from Charleroi.

Things are finally moving and we learn today that work should begin in 2023 on the Gosselies site, used in the past by the Caterpillar company, with a first phase of demolition of the current infrastructure which will extend until 2025. The construction of the park's various facilities will follow with an investment of 370 million euros, the creation of 800 direct jobs and as many indirect jobs.

The opening of the 70-hectare park is in principle scheduled for March 2027 and Merlin Entertainments aims to welcome nearly 2 million visitors from the first year of operation.
