New LEGOLAND park in Belgium: the project definitely falls through

Bad news for anyone who already saw themselves enjoying the planned arrival of a new LEGOLAND amusement park in Charleroi in Belgium, the project was definitively abandoned and it was the Walloon Minister of the Economy who took charge of announcing the bad news to the press : "...The group made this decision following a comprehensive assessment of its global operations. Its diagnosis leads to a modification of the strategy which consists in favoring a consolidation of the existing infrastructures (and under construction) rather than an expansion of the activities..."

The opening of the 70-hectare park was in principle scheduled for March 2027 and Merlin Entertainments aimed to welcome nearly 2 million visitors in the first year of operation. 800 direct jobs and as many indirect jobs were to be created by this establishment.
